A very interesting thread, gentlemen. Thank you to all the contributors. I now have a desire to track one of these down.

I'm a bit of a Francophile. so this is something I am surprised I have not done before. And the stars must be aligned for this because only yesterday, i ran into a Frenchman at a local restaurant. His accent was obvious since you never hear French spoken in my area of the US. I speak French, and we had a wonderful conversation. He said the same thing that all French nationals say to me when they hear me speak French. He said that I have a Canadian accent. My high school and college French teachers must have been from Montreal.

Anyway, I'm going to start hunting for one of these razors.

Lovely pair Steve, especially that worked spine.
I haven't seen any in great condition for a long time. I saw one a good few years ago that was mint but didn't go for it because I'd just brought another razor. Kick myself for not just buying it.

@ZipZop : let me know if I can be of help

Hot damn, I should be on etsy more, once again some Touron Parisot (which are, I say it again, among (if not THE) the most beautiful French brands) that slip through my fingers Very nice find !

Merci beaucoup mon ami. Je vous ferai savoir.

I will hunt around for a razor for a week or so. Hunting is half of the fun. If I can not find anything, I will let you know.

Alfredo just re-scaled a pair of Le Grelot 355 for me in tortoise Kirinite. I’m waiting by the mailbox.

Once again, proof is in the pudding, luck is part of the trick, but regularity wins every time.

These blade have been formally identified as bona fide cca 1880 Haute Marne blades.
Fays-Billot, now renamed Fayl-Billot (read Fay BeeYo) is a city a few kilometers away from Langres and Nogent.
Found them in a remote and unsuspecting antique shop smack in the middle of an industrial zone. Bought the lot for the price I would put in the box (called "plumier" or "quill case")

Ore-1850 Touron set, not Touron-Parisot. These are large blades which are unusual for the period in France I think. I believe that only one has ever been used, and it not so much. I have some natural material in the ‘scale pail’ for the resto. The patterns in the third image are just reflections.
