I am proud to announce the arrival of my revamped Bresnick DD Special #1, now looking sweeter than a Special Duck has any right to. The scales are Yellowheart with Walnut inlays. Huge props out to Tim (Oldblades) for pimpin' my Duck!

Well, here is my very first straight razor(just happens to be a Duck) that I just purchased last night at an estate sale for $25. I apologize for the poor picture quality, and I have done nothing to clean the old girl up yet. After she gets a little spa treatment I will post some better pics.

Anyway, I hope my one and only Dubl Duck so far is worthy of being in the club. I know I am super excited about it and can't wait to start shaving with it!...

By the way, after doing a little internet research I haven't been able to find very many pictures of other stainless Dubl Ducks. Are they not as popular as the carbon steel models?

It's not that they aren't as popular, there just weren't nearly as many made and there aren't nearly as many around.

Likewise and for $25 it's a steal. Somebody call a cop. Aren't there a few law enforcement officers here who can help us keep some order. Since when is a n00b allowed such a special razor!?!?!?

GREETINGS FROM THE NEW GUY. I'M JUST GETTING INTO STRAIGHT SHAVING AND AM WAITING ON MY NEW DOVO TO ARRIVE. I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE DUBL DUCKS. WHY ARE THEY SO LOVED? IS IT THE STEEL, THE GRIND, THE LOOK, WHAT? VERY INTERESTED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT RAZORS AND SHAVING. THIS SIGHT IS GREAT.

These blades are known to take a great edge quite easily (a combination of the grind and the steel), and there were also a lot of them around so the name became well known. Among collectors, there is also the "I'd like to have one of each" thing, and there are quite a few different models.

Welcome to SRP. The ducks are a very collectible brand but most of the old Solingen full hollows were easily honed up and are still great shavers. If you check out the straight razor data base in the SRP wiki you'll find many examples of great shavers. A lot of the lesser known names are far more reasonably priced on the vintage market and equal as shavers. BTW, typing in all capital letters is known as 'shouting' in Internet speak. It is harder on the reader's eye and not recommended.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
