May I ask where you purchased your 800s and how much they were?

P.S. I still think the large cash outlay of the group buyer can be handled by requiring a deposit. Considering how flaky people can be, this will insure that only those interested enough to lay out some cash are considered in the quantity ordered. So that the group buyer does not end up with a lot of left over stock. There seems to be a lot of interest in Model 200 and 800 not least due to them being your recommendations. However, to this moment I have no idea what the differences are between all the models (108, 208, 200, 300, 800). Does anyone know?
Perhaps I recieved the last two available (limited edition!). I had requested more, but I was told that they weren't able to get them for me, so I was shipped a couple 200's and 300's instead. I guess they are all out at the moment. They'll have to fire up the factory and pump some out.

Look closely at the pictures of the razor models. Mostly it is a matter of cosmetic differences (etch, no etch, double ground, or single ground, plain scales, "fancy" scales, etc.)

    Default Boker

I see the problem with the blades but if you remember I had a new Boker with a similar problem to the top GD near the tip. The Boker took carefull honing but was a lot easier to fix than I thought. I have not worked many new razors but I do think these problems are fairly common.

The 800, also is a much higher quality model, and is stainless, but not everybody is a stainless fan.... The price on that one is also significantly higher.

Here's a shot of a set of three random GDs to show what Ken is describing with the heels. The one on the bottom doesn't look too bad, the top one has a bit of heel overshoot, and the middle one has a bit of a wavy edge.

Nothing that is un-fixable with some time and effort. But certainly don't think you will necessarily just be able to hone them up and go (on some of them you can, on some, it takes a fair bit of work).

And of course, I I can attest to, if you do like to mess around with them, they are perfect for doing so!

    Default Gold Dollar Razors

3 requests sent to them for shipping, form of payment and order details with no response from them. I apologize, but this may not materialize. If anything changes I will post it.

I too have sent them an email about three days ago, that has not been replied to. So perhaps Nancy is away, or there's a holiday of some sort. Being a communist country has its affects. Having lived the first 16 years of my life in one, I'm keenly aware of them. I wouldn't worry about it too much. She'll be back.

Well, I can answer those questions for you.

Shipping for a box of 100 razors: $95

Form of payment: Bank wire transfer.

Order details: work it out with your GD representative

I think kenrup might be on to something by tacking it on to his next order. If hes willing to sell them right off the boat with a fair markup for his effort spent in achieving a working relationship with Nancy, that would be awesome. On top of that he's trustworthy, honest and knows the business. Just a thought.

Interesting as I got a quote of $50 for the shipping, as I posted above. Maybe I miscalculated, or misconverted? Here's her quote:
    4.the shipping cost about 350RMB

That does sound fantastic, if he indeed does go for it.

I thought 95.00 for shipping was high too, but I'm no expert in ordering razors either. I'm a newb to straight razors but not business, just international business. It's kind of funny how some of the senior guys think because you may not know razors as well as they do that you somehow just can't be intelligent. I've received support for attempting to head a group buy however I've had some resistance too. I am wondering why this is (resistance)? I thought everyone here was all about supporting each other and to renew interest in this hobby.
