Favorite razors: Every single one in my cabinet!

    Why? Because they're mine

    Default Favorite razors-opinions and why

...as of yet my favorite is an oldy made by Worcester Razor Co. It just feels great in my hands and provides a great shave. A real pain to hone though.

Wacker Old Sheffield 1st model 6/8. It's 1/4 hollow and perfectly made, scales in black horn. It's a new razor looking like W&B probably looked like 150 years ago, when they were new.

Today it was a 5/8 Wade and Butcher near wedge with a lovely subtle sweep to it, horn handles etc. Tomorrow… I dunno.

    Friedrich Dennert 6/8 with spinework.

It is my favorite because it is super deadly arrow straight, has some weight in the spine and about the finest thinnest grind that you'll ever see below the spine.

It has the authority of a heavier grind, but it has the tiny thin and super keen bevel of a much lighter razor.

A Torrey 6/8 full hollow roundpoint. The other day I got this shave that was just like what I imaged straight razor shaves were before I began using them. Dream come true.

I have a preference for a straight that has a bit of weight to it. That leads me more to the less ground blades.

You know, I think I've "favorited" almost every brand and grind type of every razor. Boker, Dovo, Wacker, Filarmonica, Dubl Duck, Henkels, W&B's, and so on, and so on!! Actually most of the favorites were a favoring of a good "shave ready" edge.

I think, though, that my favorite production razor, based on equal honing and edge compared to others, is, the Thiers Issard Oak Wing G "LE" Carbonsong 135. It's just a cut above, no pun intended, all the others I have or have tried. It's not leaps and bounds above the others, but, for me, it's the one production razor I'd keep if I could only have one!!!

Now, if we're going past production razors and get to customs, then, Charlie Lewis, Tim Zowada, Robert Williams are masters of the trade and I'd find it hard to make a distinction between their razors, and I'd just have to have all of them that I own!!

    Best Regards,
    Howard
