It's a toss up between my Frederick Reynolds and my Max Sprecher custom. They both are 6/8", have a slight smile, 1/4 grind and have a barber's notch. I asked Max to make a razor based on the Frederick Reynolds, he did a great job. I got both razors from him. The slight smile on the razors seem to give me a better shave around the neck area and the barber's notch is useful for shaving underneath your nose. Plus barber's notches look cool.

I love all of my razors. They each have pros and cons. Selecting which one I shave with is half of the fun.

I like my two Friodur 7/8 razors. They respond to stropping well and shave well. I also find myself reaching for my Torrey #258 7/8 razor which about a 3/4 grind. The Torrey has the tip of one scale broken off above the pivot, but it opens and closes OK.

From the various straight razors I have had so far (all of them quite beautiful to my eye), my absolute favourite to-date is my Thiers Issard Crown Silverwing. On the looks-side of thinks, I really like the very simple blade (no goldwash or anything of the like), the pleasant engraving on the spine and the plain wooden scales. And those are also not of the usual size of TI scales, theya re a wee bit smaller. On the shaving-side of things, I am a real fan of TI's (& Grelot's) 1/4 hollow blades, i tend to get the best shaves ever (for me, mind you) with those.
My Crown Wing rules the lot at home. Although I do have high hopes for the one or the other Wacker currently on their way and am looking forward to comparing them to my TI.

I would like to thank everyone for their input on this thread. Also I have not changed my opinions my favorite still is my genco. A convert friend of mine just got one and I tried to buy it from him and he refused. Maybe if I stop bonding it for him?
Thank you,
Swerve

My Fred Reynolds, Joseph Rogers, Wostie wedge and WB are my favorites. Having said that my Genco gives as good a shave as any would want. It was my first restore (and looks like a first restore) and has more than usual sentimental value.

Thanked: 6I have a few that I really like, but I'm partial to the Genco's also. I have a Geneva Special A thats hones up like a dream and its almost like using a whisker squeegee to shave with. Hard to believe these were everyday common man items.
One day I'd like give a Fluid Steel a try. I read that those are really great.

So far my two favorite razors are my Sheaf Works and Wade and Butcher. Both are 6/8's with barbers notches.
