    Location: 40°50'38.61"N 73°56'19.68"W
Razor: CV Heljestrand MK no 31
Brush: Rudolph Vey Ivory 2 Band
    Soap: Penhaligon's English Fern
Astringent: Thayer's Witch Hazel w/ Aloe
    AS: Coral Skin Food
Result: BBS! Look, I don't understand it, but I always get a smoother more comfortable shave with English Fern than any other soap. This would be my desert island set up. This is also the first straight shave for me that actually matters; I'm going for an interview tomorrow. Wish me luck!

    Default Tuesday pm

    Prep - hot water
    Strop - VB 2'' web/latigo 60/60
    Brush - WS boar
    Cream - C.O. Bigelow
    Razor - Bengall 13/16 wedge/spike
    AS - Skin Bracer
    ASB - Nivea Extreme
Post Shave Drink - Knob Creek/ice
Post Shave Activity - enjoying my drink in the bath tub while reading The Old Man and the Sea (my wife fell asleep early)

I have come across two things that make my shaves a lot easier...

While I am still very careful/deliberate when flipping the razor during stropping, I've found that a faster stroke once it's flipped seems to smooth out the edge better. It seems that while attempting to not botch the edge there can be a tendency to be a bit "delicate/slow/limp/wussy" on the draw and perhaps not reap the full benefit of a good strop. This change has made a world of difference.

Also, I was initially dissapointed with how the Nivea felt on my face, used only on it's own with no aftershave (I've just begun to "get hip" to using AS...I really like it). Used in conjunction with the Skin Bracer, it's perfect. I'm also waiting eagerly for my tube of La Toja to come in - looking forward to something new...

    Have a great day!

It was one of those memorable shaves where everything was just perfect. Full moon and the stars must have been aligned for me.
    This shave was just 'perfect'.
    Couldn't ask for more.

Welcome back! We missed your fantastic pics! Nice collection of Harris stuff there. I'm tempted by a Harris soap but I'm overstocked already!
