Week of September 12 SOTD - Wednesday
Pre-Shave: Hot shower Razor: 6/8" "SOLGEN" Real Japanese Hollow Ground, Hollow, truncated french-point/angled spike point (purchased from JimR) Brush: 22mm Vulfix Super Badger Lather: Cella Crema Da Barba (+ lavender EO) Astringent: Thayers Witch Hazel (Lavender, no alcohol) Post-shave: D.R. Harris Arlington After Shave Milk EDC: Alt Innsbruck Result: Today's shave was with several new products in my arsenal. In order of use: 1) First and foremost is the Cella Tallow-based (I think) creme that I had heard a lot about and decided to try...all accounts of this creme being as great as people say were in fact corroborated in the quality and thickness of the lather...simply AWESOME!!!!! However, the scent left much to be desired, but was easily fixed by adding a micro drop of Lavender essential oil in the mix...Taaaddddaaa, problem solved. The result was a fabulously thick and great smelling lather. 2) Second is the Kanayama razor recently made available for purchase by Jim Rion (JimR). This blade is absolutely gorgeous...it is shorter (2.25") than its longer cousins (~3"), but where it lacks in length, it makes up in attitude...not to mention its easy maneuverability and handling. The edge was scary sharp when I received it yesterday and couldn't wait to shave with it today. I don't know...maybe Jim used his famous Maruka JNats to get this edge sharp and polished! It doesn't matter right now...This blade certainly delivered on its promise - a super smoooooooth shave. 3) The third of the new products are the D.R Harris Arlington AS Milk and the Alt Innsbruck EDC. This stuff really smells great. I mixed a few drops of AS milk and EDC and applied to face...Whoahhhh! After being greeted with an initial alcohol sting - which quickly disappeared - what was left behind was a very well moisturized skin underneath.
I know, I know...the Cella and the Alt Innsbruck/D.R. Harris Arlington are a clash to the Japanese theme of my SOTD, but I didn't have any Japanese products that I could use as substitute.
Have a great Wednesday gentlemen .

The Schoenburg Razor No. 775 (Toyo Hasimoto) 6/8
C&E BBB
Coates Sandalwood sc (original)
Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
C&E Sandalwood a/s balm
C&E Sandalwood Edt
A C&E and Sandalwood themed shave...I was worried about using the Schoenburg after it felt very unwieldly on the canvas and leather strops. It turned out to be just fine and with a wonderful cushion of the Coates lather I had two good passes and a couple of touch ups on my neck. I hated to waste the remaining lather so I shaved my head again even though I had just done so yesterday. The C&E balm is more like a milk in consistency and it only does a fair job in soothing my skin. The C&E sandalwood Edt is a solid standby and was an appropriate finish.

Wednesday morning
Razor: S. R. Droescher "Karbono" special steel
Brush: Rooney Style 2
Cream: Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar
AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue
ASB: Nivea
Result: This was my first full shave with this razor, which was an antique store find. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts at honing it, I finally got it right. Todays shave was amazingly smooth, comfortable, and close.
