Craftsman wedge...Not a bad shave..Not a A-lister but more decent than one would expect. There is a lot to be said for Chromized steel (whatever that is). Stays sharp but has a nasty pit at the toe that ruins the beauty of a well made razor...

    Strop: Kanayama (30/60)
Razor: Solgen Japanese Full Hollow NOS for Kanayama Customers
Lather: Tabac + Trumpers Lime + 8 drops Glycerin
    Brush: Shavemac 23mm Silvertip
    Post: Alum and Thayer's Lavender
    AS: CarrieM After Shave Milk
    EdT: Guerlain Habit Rouge

I got my Solgen yesterday and was anticipating the first shave all night. As I stropped her on the Kanayama, she produced a wonderful singing on the linen, and that leather was, as usual, smooth as butter. The razor was very smooth. It's smaller length made it very maneuverable while the incredibly sharp french nose on it made it perfect for fitting into tight spots. JimR put a very nice edge on the blade, and she left me with a perfectly smooth BBS feel!

What a wonderful way to start my day. Thank you for letting me share!

The C-Mon Scales are in good shape so why take it apart?
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I agree with you.

Post Week of September 12 - Tuesday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Razor/blade: Merkur 39C Slant/Treet Classic blade
    Brush: 22mm Vulfix Super Badger
Überlather: Al Raz Custom "Da Bomb" Shave Creme (Cloves, Orange, Cinnamon)
Astringent: Thayers Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Post-shave: Trumper's Limes Skin Food
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
EDT: Yves Saint Laurent "Rive Gauche" pour homme
Result: Ahhhhh...the good 'ol DE...I had missed how good this razor feels and handles. I still prefer straights, but it is good to be able to hold the DE and have the memories of yesteryear come flooding in. Therefore today's SOTD is with my Merkur 39C slant...No honing, no stropping...just pop in a DE blade (Treet Classic...not the best, but OK) and I was good to go. My hat's off to the 39C for not letting me down and delivering a smooth and great BBS shave.

    Default Tuesday Shave!

    Almond/Peppermint Oil | Mamabear's Dragon's Tears | Shavemac Finest Badger | New England Razor Co. "Puritan" |Thayer's WH | Institut Karite ASB | Mamabear's Dragon's Blood Cologne

I usually post my SOTD pics at night, but I had some extra time this morning prior to work. Used some pre-shave oil today and noticed no difference in the quality of my shave. I guess a little added moisture cannot hurt.

In addition, "The Puritan" is the first razor I took from butter knife dull to shave ready. Only used it for one side of my face to test, but it was smooth, comfortable and very rewarding experiencing the fruits of my labor.

How does the Peppermint oil feel on your skin?

I mixed approximately 5 drops of peppermint oil into about 2 ounces of almond oil so it kind of mutes the peppermint. I will say that it has a nice cooling, refreshing effect and it is a nice addition to a pre-shave.
