Called an audible this morning so I don't have a picture
    Hot Shower
    Baby Oil Gel preshave
    Boker Red Injun #102
    Omega Boar
    VDH Deluxe
    Alum Block/Cold Water Rinse/Osage Rub
    Clubman Bay Rum

You'd be hard pressed to get more old school than this. Great two pass shave despite a small nick just below the right hand terminal end of the moustache. Great finish with this, menthol and bay rum is a tough combination to beat.
The older I get, the better I was

Beautiful Wacker Fonti. I love this version of the Jubiläummesser and the etched writing on her spine. Very classy

    6. badger
Those two were exactly the ones I picked as synthetic too . The real question in my mind is (and I know you fell this): will I be able to tell the difference in a blind test?

    Grant,
That is a beautiful Gotta. I really love "true" French points. They have the same characteristics of a spike, but with a nice looking twist/look. Very classy.

Can't believe this thing is that old. Very clean too.

Post Week of February 27 SOTD - Friday

    ~ A Bay Rum Kinda Shave ~

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush (Rudy Vey): 26mm Rudy Vey w/TGN Grade A Silvertip Badger
Razor: 7/8" Solingen Stainless, 1/4 Hollow, Round Point (Snakewood scales)
Strop: 50/65 (Torolf linen/Premium IV leather)
Überlather: CarrieM "Bay Rum" Shave Creme + Ogallala Bay Rum Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
    Cologne: Alt Innsbruck EdC
Results: This nameless Solingen Stainless is a wonderful shaver...perfect for wiping 2-days of growth. This brush is one whose ergonomic design (originally by Acca Kappa) I asked Rudy Vey to make for me in "Kingwood" handle. He recommended using the TGN, gradeA silvertip. It took him 3 tries to get this perfect and I love (and appreciate) it...and I mean it in every way; ergonomics, quality of silvertip badger hair, size, etc...I couldn't be happier. As far as überlather, Bay Rum was the scent of the day (as per Bill's recommendation and Bruce's encouragement. This one's for you gents ). I used the Ogallala shave stick that Rene gifted me some time ago and loaded the brush, mixed it with a pea sized amount of the CarrieM creme. Add a little glycerin, et Voilà!!! A nice lather...not the best that I have become so accustomed to but great nonetheless, with an exceptionally intoxicating scent. The lather was slowly "collapsing" on itself in the scuttle and needed a refresh. I was not a big fan of Bay Rum, but I think that I am slowly changing my mind. The scent was so good that I spent a good 3 minutes working the warm lather into my whiskers. Instant gratification as the lather disappeared in the wake of the Solingen's edge, whereby each pass left behind a smoother skin than the pass before it . I am going to love this Friday.

    ******************************

    TGIF...Have a SPLENDID Friday gentlemen.

Yep, same here. And even compared to the good oldies back in the 20th century, this blade stands out. Amazing.

Thank you, Sir. Of course, the credit goes to Glen, who did the restore!

Robert, glad the scent worked for you. I am sorry, though, that you had the lather caving on itself. I can't explain that one. In the end it sounds like you still got a great shave, so Congratulations! BTW, terrific shot and the brush looks great!

+1 To Bill's comments Robert! Thanks for the trial run and the great lab report. Sounds like the Ogallala scent and the CarrieM Bay Rum Scent compliment each other nicely. ARRRRGH, welcome to the Bay Rum Pirates Crew Matie!

    Friday, March 4th

    Razor: Wilkinson Sticky
    Blade: Schick Plus Platinum
    Brush: Shavemac 2007 LE
    Pre-Shave: Musgo Real Glyce Lime
Soap: I Coloniali Mango Oil Shave Soap
A/S: Acca Kappa White Moss Emulsion

Another great shave. I just received the Acca Kappa aftershave emulsion in yesterday's mail and I am very impressed. It is very soothing, not overly greasy and it has a mild pleasant scent. It now has a spot in the rotation.
