Thank you, Robert. I seem to be acquiring too many Roll's, They are amazing razors once honed and stropped properly.

Sounds like a fun place...they BBQ for employees, recognize good innovative talent. I need to be in a place like that . Enjoy the day. You deserve it brotha.
Thanks Robert. After 3 years of Layoffs and no job growth, we've been growing rapidly lately and it's nice to be able to put a smile on employee's faces again. The BBQ was a huge success!

Why I've missed the last few days

Well, I thought the internet problem was fixed for good...and then there were the worst storms my area has seen in probably 40 years. We lost internet on Wednesday night, got it fixed Friday and then hail, tornados, strong winds, etc and lost it again. We had an EF4 tornado come 8 miles from our house and then the same storm spawned another (or it could have been the same) EF4 tornado about 2 miles from my office (the office is not far from Lambert St. Louis Airport). The good news is that everyone is safe and my family and I did not sustain any major damage. I can not say the same for many others who lost businesses, homes, etc and my thoughts and prayers are with them. I'll see tomorrow at the office if any of my co-workers were impacted and what I can do to help out. That being said, that's why I've been absent from the SOTD for the last few days. It was nice to be able to sit down and look at all the great posts that I missed and it was very therapeutic. Thanks Everyone!

    Easter Shave

    Prep:Hot Shower
    Scuttle: Dirty Bird Custom Double
    Brush: H.L. Thater 23mm
    Strop:SRD PIV English Bridle
Uberlather:Cade cream, AOS Sandalwood soap, 5 drops of glycerin
    Razor: Dovo “Best Quality”
After shave: Frankincense, Myrrh, & Vetiver Custom by Al's Shaving
    EDT: Cartier Roadster
Supervisor Larry the Cucumber from "Veggie Tails" (My daughter is in love with Veggie Tails and snuggles with him every morning).

Result: I gave the Dovo a honing last night and today's shave was just ok. It didn't pull, but there must be a dull spot on the edge because I was left with a few odd hairs here and there. This is the blade I normally experiment on and I'll have to give it a good once over to find what I missed. Happy Easter!

Thanks everyone, and be safe out there!

    Glenn

Thanks Doom, when I got this it was my first SE razor, and I was really surprised at the shape it was in, all it needed was a bath, all plating is in perfect shape and nare a scratch on it, and nice to look at to boot ! Been getting into these SE's lately, and getting fantastic shaves from them. Thanks Buddy and hope you had a great Easter.

    Happy Easter

    Shave of the Day 4-24-11

Pre: Warm shower, Nivea Face Scrub
Shave cream: Truefitt and Hill Trafalgar (wow)
    Brush: Omega Scarlatti
Razor: Merkur 38C with a Derby blade
Post shave: Truefitt and Hill Trafalgar after shave balm
Cologne: Truefitt and Hill Trafalgar (EdT)

This was my first time with the Merkur. Much different from my Gillette. I wasn't impressed with the Derby, my first time using them. It could be because I didn't use the Musgo Real Glyce Lime Oil soap, the new razor or a combination. Anyhow, the shave was so-so but finished off smooth.

I received my sample pack from Trueffit and Hill this week and I couldn't wait to use them. I didn't know which one to use first but I went with the Trafalgar.
Wow! The lather had an incredible smell and the after shave and eau de toilette didn't disappoint either. Spicy scent, I think strong bergamot scent. I like it a lot.
I'll never go back to the canned stuff ever again.

Not mention there is enough in the small sample pack for at least two or three shaves. My usual colognes are facing retirement.

Hope you all had a fantastic day with family and loved ones.

    PaulCam,

Very nice Merkur "Barber Pole" de razor. Congrats!

Yes, the T & H Trafalgar is very nice. I use it myself. In fact, T & H makes a number of nice shaving creams and colognes that have wonderful fragrances.

As for the Derby razor blades. They are supposed to be good, reasonably priced, razor blades. You may have gotten a dud. I have heard from other SRP members that the Derby quality control is not consistent. Try another and see how it shaves. I prefer Wilkinson Sword (Germany), Lord (Egypt), Gillette 7 O'clock (Russia), and Feather (Japan) myself. Try one or all of them. You can get a sampler pack of de razor blades.

    Take care--and continued smooth shaving.
