I had never felt all the comfortable posting other peoples razors in the SOTD but I am getting better about it.. Plus really it is pretty boring on a day to day basis...

    Example:

Last night I honed 5 razors

7/8+ Filarmonica one of the Classic Shave bunch (Naniwas)
    5/8 Mohawk (Naniwas)
    5/8 Jim-Slick (Naniwas)
7/8 J. Elliot Silver Steel (Coticule)
    6/8 Sprock of Hamburg (Naniwas)

    Strop: Illinois #827 50/100 linen/leather each razor
    Soap: Williams
    Brush: Col Conk Pure Badger
    Lather: On face
Shave: Multi-Directional using all 5 razors
Rinse: Ice Water after Alum Block
    A/S Aqua Velva Ice Blue

See pretty much the exact same boring ole shave to test edges before they go home
every now and then I switch Soaps and Aftershaves... The exciting part is trying all the different razors

Here is a pic of the restored Sprock, A full Vintage Restore back in the original Ivories talk about a fun time popping and re-peening pins hehehe oh so very carefully...

Don't rub it in too much B.,
I may just pick up and move in with you, LOOOOOOL.

Thanks for the Damascus info. I figured as much, but also thought that being so different, may have a different honing scheme/ritual. I guess not. Thanks buddy

Haaaaaaa....Just make sure you don't end up getting a speeding (or in this case, nicking) ticket, LOOOOOOL. Can't wait to get mine. I'll race you. I bet mine is bigger than yours, LOL

    Dominic,
Great job with the scales buddy. Very "aquarium"-ish. I like it. Chicago or NY? Who cares? she shaves and looks great...that's what counts.

Are you kiddin' me, LOL? I am getting close to my #20th Maxterppiece and you're asking if MAD has kicked in, LOOOOOOOOL? Dude...my MAD is in overdrive. VROOOOOOM, VROOOOOM. Come to think of it, I better let my wife drive us to Vegas next week. I am afraid if I do, we'll make the 4 hr trip in under 1.5 hrs.

I think Max is applying for the equivalent of the Witness Protection Program...we can call it the "MADness Protection Program" or MADPP. If he disappears from Vegas, never to be heard from again, it will be because of us, LOOOOOOOOOL.

Come to think of it, maybe we should change the thread from SOTD to MOTD (Max of the day), LOOOOOOL. But, this is wrong man, totally wrong. It monopolizes the thread and undervalues all other razors. Erase, erase. Not a good idea. I am ashamed of myself of even thinking it. Sorry!!!

    Blueman,
Fantastic shave. How do you like the Avocado? I like TOBS, but never tried their Avocado.

Sounds fabulous David. Irritation free too? Some argue that some SEs (maybe it's the blade) can leave one with a slightly irritated face after a few hours.

MWF, Otto Busch and Chubby2 all in one shave? Now that's a class act. No wonder you're happy. Well done my friend.

If that's what boring is, then I like it, LOOOOL. Nice Sproch

Oh man...Now, that's awesome. I have eShave Almond shave creme and it is amazing (I haven;t tried the brush or AS lotion). That Navaja is a beauty too. Word on the street is that it shaves just like a Filarmonica.

i just got the razor a few days ago and its not incredibly sharp. it is sufficient for a first pass, but i had to finish the shave with my Parker SR1 Stainless Steel Straight Edge Razor.
i did three passes: WTG, XTG, and ATG. results were almost baby smooth with a few stubbly patches.
    have a great day!

    Default Here comes the weekend

    Friday!!

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Brush: Shavemac D01 Two-band 25mm
Razor: Friedrich Wilhelm Engels, Special. 6/8
Honing Regimen: Chosera 1-5-10K, Y/G Escher, Norton Razor hone.
Strop: SRD Premium IV English Bridle
    Soap/Cream: Martin de Candre
    Astringent: Alum
After shave Balm: MdC Copra Oil
EdT: Martin De Candre, eau de Candre, Lavande
Results: A shave out of the ordinary. Following an old tip from Sham, I finished this razor with just a few laps on a Norton razor hone after the Escher. It got quite simply too sharp. I had to mellow it down with some CrO. I didn't know it was even possible to get a razor this sharp. It was as if I was shaving with a Feather DX loaded with a Super-Professional blade After the CrO the shave was wonderful.
