Did you have a mirror or polished can at your disposal, or did you really go Old School and shave by feel?

A great way to finish off the weekend. 2 passes and a DFS. The left over MWF lather just got rubbed into a vintage strop I'm trying to bring back to life.
Hope you've all had a great weekend. Look forward to seeing all your posts this week.

    Razor - Russian, Spartan
    Brush - Simpson chubby#2
    Pre-shave oil - Alraz Saigon
    Soap - Alraz Saigon
    Alum
    Witchhazel

Good day.. Not much sleep last night, storm activity. Shaving with the Ol Spartan today. These high quality Russian razors are fantastic shavers, once you get an edge on them. The vintage bottle of QUINOIL is for decorating the shave den. Smells like......No not victory, TURPENTINE.

    Sunday SOTD:

PREP: hot shower + Proraso pre/post
    BRUSH: Vie-Long Zurito
    RAZOR: Edwin Jagger DE89BA11 Barley
    BLADES: Feathers
    BOWL: DirtyBird scuttle
    SOAP: Tabac soap
AS/ASB: Ogallala Bayrum + 2 drops of glycerin

RESULTS: Smooth shave. First time using a DE and Tabac soap. The DE is really nice love the way it works and it's easier than I thought. No irritations, nicks and cuts!!! Love the way Tabac soap lathers and perform and great scent BTW. I bought the puck and gratted it in a nice bowl with cover, looks great. I'll buy the Tabac cream for a nice Tabac ubber.

    Great week to all!!!!
    cheers

No shave for me today. Too hung over to sit up straight let alone put sharp steel to my face. Great shaves all around today so far.

Summary: The Fontana and La Toja soap were 2 new acquisitions I made this past week.

The Fontana was on my wish list for a very long time as I had been keeping an eye out for one to eventually show up as they are not very common. The shave it gave me blew every top vintage straight razor contender I own down a notch.

The La Toja Manantiales performed flawless. Is it as good as Maison De Candre. It's very good, just different. Both are top performers in their own league.
You teaser you. I love this Fontana and don't be surprised if tomorrow, 1/2 the shaves are with one. We will all copy what you do, LOOOOOOOOL

Seriously though, that is a great piece of steel Max. I was looking for one awhile back (in excellent condition), but I never found it and eventually gave up. You are not only a great "Razorer" (new word for custom maker, restorer, etc...), but also a resourceful SOG (son of a gun). I don't know how you find these things in pristine condition, but my hat's off to you.

Glad you like the La Toja too. It and MdC are the only soaps one will truly ever need. I can't decide on which is my favorite as every time I use one, it becomes my favorite. You're right though, they are different in their own right. If I was ever forced to choose two cremes and two soaps, they will be: Al's and Acca Kappa (for cremes) and these two for soaps

A DFS to start the day, even though it's way too early. Working 3a-3p again, but at least it starts with a great shave.
    David,
I feel your pain brother...3AM????? They should make it illegal to torture people like this. But, as you say, at least you started the day with a fabulous shave. Well done

    Nice hybrid blade Birnando.

PS: Al's cremes are fabulous, but his ASB are exceptional too.

Don't encourage him...He's already on every forum roaming the classifieds and has a tenured membership with eBay (actually, I think he may on their BOD). The rest of us have no hope. Between Bill and Max, we get the bread crumbs, LOL. Bill is already on a mission to collect every custom on this planet...so, I think you will soon be out-razored or out-customed, LOOOOOL.

Sorry about the lack of sleep Mike and hope those storms made their way out. Beautiful shave indeed, but you and Birnando coordinate to make today a "Saigon" day, LOL?
