    Default Smooth Saturday Start

Have not posted for a long time. So here goes

    Pre: Wet face
    Soap: Shea butter Armani scent
    Brush: Rooney
Razor: A no name that I took a chance on because of the spine detail
    AS: Blue Musk

A very homemade shave. For those of you that haven't tried to make shave soap or AS give it a try it really rounds out the hobby. Gives one a feeling of self satisfaction. Honing your own razor, your own soap, your own AS. Results into a very smooth satisfying shave. The no name shaved pretty well but I think I'll try to tweak it up a little. One advantage of our hobby.

    Shave well gentlemen
    Best regards Jim

Congratulations, good to have you with us. There's some good shave videos on YouTube, and some here on the Wiki Shaving videos - Straight Razor Place Wiki if your interested. It might help a little to see how other people do it.
Look forward to more posts from you.

Good to see you back here Jim. Thats a sweet looking razor, hope you get that edge to where you want it.

No shave for me today. I've spent the evening working on something special, (I think it will be anyway). Still have a bit of finishing off, then honing and testing but you will see it soon.
Thanks for all the great posts and pics fellas.
Hope your all enjoying your weekend

    Johan,
Sounds like a blissful and peaceful shave this AM. Congrats on pushing the limit with the Dovo and going with all 3 passes. Don't worry about the "perfect" shave...To some degree, we are all in search of it...hence the fun in this saga of adventures. Keep having fun brother

    Ouuuuuuch Birnando,
Sorry about the cut brotha. Hopefully, not too deep. Put some aloe on it for a speedier wound healing. I think you got that cut because this razor felt intimidated amongst your wonderful collection of razors, LOOOOL...This was probably her way of saying: I want all the attention. She's beautiful I must say. Congrats on a fabulous score. Now, she just needs to be tamed a bit.

Ahh. this was a nice one, best in a long while. This superlather combo was perfect, the blade is wonderful and the brush is out of this world nice!

Yesterdays shave was lousy and I didn´t want to write about it ;-)
    Wowww Mikael,
Sorry to hear about yesterday's less than perfect shave, but you certainly seem to have more than made up for it today. beautiful Ari-ya btw. Love the Chubby 3 too. May all your shaves turn out this good (not just once in a long while)

Nice travel kit Monroe. Hope you had a nice time (conference, I assume) in DC. Did you get to hook up with Bill?

    Jim,
It's great to see you back...and what an entrance too!!! Love the spine work on that "no name" blade...congrats and kudos on taking a chance on it. I am sure she'll turn out to be a top shaver. Also, well done on the "home made" software front. That's quite an "Organic & Green" shave

Well today was interesting. It started off well and good with a SR shave for the side of my face as I did yesterday. Today was much easier, however I wasn't paying attention for all of five seconds and the point of the blade sliced part of my cheek, which resulted in the use of an alum cube. However, after this incident, everything went fairly well. However, I was a bit over aggressive with my Merkur today and had some minor irritation as a result .

I think this is what I get for going on a run before I decided to shower and shave! Endorphins are a big no go in terms of being relaxed enough to maneuver a piece of sharp steel, I'd think.

    Have a great day everyone!

Definitely nothing high brow about this shave but the razor's edge was in fine shape making a great leisurely Saturday shave (CBS in 3 passes). Bill,

Sorry about that. It was a whirlwind visit. Primarily business. I spent the only full day I was there at the National Archives in College Park, Md conducing some research.

Got back home about 1:00 A.M. last night on the last plane out of D.C. I'm bushed.

I may go back to conduct some more research. If and when I do, I'll give you a call.
