Post Week of July 10 SOTD - Tuesday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 26mm Simpson "Chubby 2", 2-band Super Badger
Maxterpiece: 6/8" Cadman & Sons "Bengall", Full/Extra Hollow Ground, Spike Point (w/ genuine ivory scales)
Strop: 45/60 laps (Torolf linen / SRD Premium IV leather)
Überlather: Cyril Salter "Indian Sandalwood" Shave Creme + Czech & Speake "№88" + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose Petal, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Truefitt & Hill "Spanish Leather" AS
    Cologne: Penhaligon "Opus 1870" EdT
Results: Yesterday was Christmas all over again...I received this Bengall from Max totally decked out (re-pinned, polished...the whole nine yards) in genuine ivory scales . Being a Sheffield blade, I decided that an all English affair would be a fitting scenario for today's SOTD. The Simpson whipped up an überlicious lather out of the C&S: Flawless with fabulous glide, protection and cushion (after all it's tallow/lanolin-based) !!!! I love this soap. However, despite raving reviews, I find the scent to be just OK (Top notes: Bergamot/Geranium, Middle notes: Rose Otto/Cassie/Frangipani, Base notes: Vetiver/Sandalwood). The shave with this Bengall was simply EXTRAORDINARY . Just fabulous. I am speechless. Thank you Max .

    Have a SUPER Tuesday Gentlemen.

    Thumbs up

    Gentlemen,
I had all my comment gathered (almost to the end) when stupid Firefox crashed (earlier versions were more reliable...Hate this latest versions). No time to repost from scratch. So suffice it to say:

    Fantastic gear today

    Tuesday Morning
    5 mile run
    Hot Shower
    AOS Pre shave oil
    AOS unscented cream
    AOS best badger brush
Zaliel rehoned and stroped razor (another antique store find)
    Ruprazor Filly 25 Cro-ox, 25 Leather
Stypic, Alum, Thayers Aloe Witch Hazel
    Lab Series Razor Burn Relief
    AOS aftershave balm
    Armani Aqua di Gio Cologne

What's the opposite of BBS? Had a rough go of it today. Beat myself up pretty good. Think it's time for a day off to let things heal a bit. On a positive note, I did the entire shave with my straight. No DE touch up. At times I even felt like I knew what I was doing. Gonna rest up the mug tomorrow I think, then I think it's time to pull out the Boker again to feel and compare a properly honed and sharpened razor to what I've been able to accomplish.

Driving up to Boulder for lunch time ride with my oldest friend. Beautiful day. Can't wait.

    Cheers. Smooth Shaving Gentlemen!

Not much to it. Just a great shave with a great razor.

Tried ARKO shave cream for the first time. Uber'd with AOS Sandalwood and glycerin. Came out fantastic. Made way too much, but that's ok. Gave me a good change to experiment with a new soap.

I'm loving this razor each time I use it. Still have the Derby blade in there. I want to perfect my technique before I switch to anything else. I want to be able to feel the actual difference and not wonder if it's moreso my technique than the blade.

    • Pre-shave: Proraso Green as always.
    • Brush: Semogue SOC
    • Soap: Cella
    • Razor: Feather Artist Club SS
    • Blade: KAI Captian Titan Mild
    • Scuttle: Schwarzweisskeramik XL
    • Post-shave: Alum block and Clubman

    By blix72 at 2011-07-12

Results: GREAT shave! I used the scuttle with cold water this warm morning, and it was sooo refreshing and nice with the cool lather on skin. The Feather SS is really nice, feels kinda like a wedge when it comes to (lack of) feedback, silent ninja shaver. And really smooth with those KAI blades. A really good shave today. Did WTG-XTG-ATG, no irritation.
