beautiful wedge Mikael...Did she lead to some irritation when you used her as a hollow?? just curious

Welcome back to SOTD. Great choice of software. TABAC rules. Well done. I love that 2-band D01.

    Glenn,
I do not envy you abut the weather at all buddy. But your shave is fabulously cooooooooool. I spent 5 years of my life in Houston and experienced extreme temperature/humidity. Weather you can wear is definitely not for me. Beautiful shot btw.

    Bill,
Stupendous sounds about right. The LG is a true beauty (great find). I remember the time when you were not too crazy about Cade. I am glad that the uber is working out better for you. It is great stuff

    Default 2 SOTD's 18th and 19th

    A day late...

A nice smooth shave with the Blackstar

    And Today...

Prep: hot shower and lingering lather
    Soap: Fitjar Fjellheim
    Brush: Co.conk bristle
Razor: recently refreshed Dovo C-Mon Blackie
Post: Which Hazel later to be touched up with Muskol to keep the Mosquitoes at bay

The touch up on the hones really has improved the shave, my appreciation of this razor has been rekindled (being my first blade I imagine all of my minor mistakes on the strop had affected the edge) as the shave was great this morning
The Fjellheim scent is subtle... I think it will need a couple more shaves before I make up my mind on it. It is not unpleasant just not strong (probably a good thing) and doesn't immediately register like the Lighthouse bay rum. Great lather and cushion as expected.

Enjoy the rest of the day! I hope to find time to peruse the rest of today's and yesterdays SOTD posts.

PREP: Hot shower with face scrub
    RAZOR: Henk 401
    BRUSH: Rudy Vey
    SOAP: Provence Sante
    ASTRINGENT: Thayers Unscented
    ASB: Skinfood
    EDT: Davidoff Echo
    RESULTS: EXCELLENT SHAVE!!
A great shave today. Took the Henk out today but before I did refreshed it with Crox on my leather strop, then 40/60 on my premium 4. She did not disappoint . The Provence Sante was yet another soap I had recently purchased, and it is a great soap. Nice cushion, good glide, and the smell is really pleasant. But the payoff is after the shave. My skin feels so nourished and moisturized , I probably didnt need an ASB, it is a great feeling .
GREAT SHAVES GUYS!!!! THANKS TO EVERYONE!!!!

Really nice looking SOTD today boys! I have decided I hate the Acca Kappa except to lend scent to things. It is horrible for cushion glide and lubricity. It's only saving grace is the scent. From what I hear from Robert the Soap is good but I have the cream in the tube. Any one else have a different view?

    Hey Joe,
Believe me, I don't have a lot of them. My modest collection is just that modest, but a good # of them are vintage, which is what I prefer.

Your collection of straights is starting to grow into a nice armament of pristine blades. Congrats

    Paul,
Actually, there are two creme versions: (1) older formulation in the tube (the one you have) and (2) the newer formulation in the tub. #2 is the better variety. They have significantly improved performance (that's the one you want). I think the soap is OK, not as good as the creme in the tub though. I like it mainly for it's wooden bowl and for ubering. Once you find the sweet spot with the soap/creme, it is an amazing combo. Soap w/ Bowl is not worth the price tag though. If you PM me your address, I will send you some sample of the new formulation creme...alternatively, this thing is pretty cheap to get at $20 a tub. Amazon has it here.

    Warm Shower
    Warm Oil
    Dirty Bird Scuttle
    New Forest Badger
Uber lather: AOS Sandalwood Soap/Nancy Boy SC/Glycerine
Wade and Butcher Hollow Barbers Notch
SRP 25 Laps felt, 50 leather
    AOS Aluminum
    Aramis AS
    Aramis AS Balm

This was my first vintage razor. Provides a wonderful shave. After holding the Williams it feels small. I really like this razor and forgot how nice it shaves. Tonight there was no question about the Uberness of my concoction. The combination was literally over flowing the scuttle and got all over the place. It was so nice to shave with, thick, creamy and lots of glide.

    Enjoy the evening.
