    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 (2-Band)
    Razor: Kikuboshi Special
    Strop: Kanayama
    Soap: La Toja Manantiales
    After shave: Sabon
    EdT: MPG Santal Noble
Results: Life threw me a curve ball on Monday. When I returned from two weeks of Army Reserve schooling, I was promptly notified that due to the economy, I was being laid off effective that afternoon. Needless to say, I've been a bit distracted ever since. Thankfully, things are going better than I anticipated because I've got an interview today with a firm, and another scheduled for tomorrow. Both firms have told me up front that if there is a position, it would be a pay cut, but a lower paying job is better than no job at all! All of that aside, today's shave was divine! I wanted something special to put me in the right frame of mind for my meetings, so I broke out the Kikuboshi and the La Toja. Both of these are top notch performers, and they lived up to their reputations! I did a two pass cold-water shave, and was rewarded with BBS skin. The Sabon moisturized my face incredibly well, and the Santal Noble is a fragrance you have to experience. I'm ready to take on the world!

    Prep: Hot Water Wash
Razor: 1960 Gillette Fat Boy @7
    Brush: Semogue 1305
    Cream: C.O. Bigelow
    AS: Skin Bracer
Finish: Pinaud Lime Sec, Firehouse Wacky Tacky

Great shave. A three pass shave with the Fat Boy is consistently CBS. Good Luck on your interview Bill!

Sorry to hear Bill, that really sucks.
Good luck with the interviews, hope evrything sortens out, as you said it's better to have a less paid job than no job at all.

    Bill,

That more than sucks... It's total Bull... Oh well, you know how to complete that phrase.

At any rate, best of luck on your two job interviews.

    Strop: Illinois 835
    Brush: FS Finest Badger
    Cream: CarrieM's Black Raspberry Vanilla
    Razor: Royal Invicta 6/8
    Astringent: Thayer's Lemon Witch Hazel
    Balm: Nivea Replenishing
Result: Same razor as last night but a MUCH better result. When I honed this one a little while ago I used my newest Coticule, but I am realizing now that my first Coti is a much smoother finisher and so used it to fine tune this edge.
The Invicta is back to its old awesome self.

Sorry to hear that Bill! I guess no one is safe anymore
I'm glad to hear of your interview. Just mention straight razors in the interview somehow...that's gotta impress!

OK shave, but it's time to put this razor aside for some touch-up honing.
Beautiful blade Otto, but sorry to hear about the OK-ness of the shave. These blades take (and hold) amazing edges, so I am sure she will do well on the hones. have fun

    Bill,
Holy cow man...That is just downright wrong. After everything you have done for those guys, they pull the old "due to the economy" argument out? I am sorry to hear that buddy, but very very very glad that you've at least got a few things lined up (albeit a lower pay). This economy has just been very unkind to the law profession. Good luck today. My fingers are crossed for you.

Well done Grant. Well done. That blade deserves nothing but the best edge
