For my money though the best safety razor and blade combo is an Ever Ready/Gem 1912 with a PTFE coated Gem single edge blade. As close as you get to a straight shave with a disposable blade.
I've got a bunch and this happened to be what I grabbed. I plan doing each type once for three days, give them a eval, then try again to see as technique improves. To be honest, I'm finding shaving with a DE very easy and have no issue's as of yet. I pulled the trigger on an EJ Barley also but am sticking with the gillette until dine with the testing. Agian, why did people ever stop using these? So easy and you get the best of both worlds. We as shavers went to canned goo for this?

I dont know why, but it's been months since I used this razor and tonight I was pleasantly surprises how well it shaved.
    3 passes and I'm smooth as a baby's butt.
The DE was for the head shave. Only 2 passes on the head because I remembered my favorite TV show had already started.
A great shave though. My bald head is clean and Shiney Smooth
