Robert, I am still very much a rookie in the straight razor game and would hate to give up on a nice little razor before my skills catch up to it.

    And enjoy that anniversary.

    Great shaves today.

    Locale:The Whisker Dungeon
Music: Molly Hatchet - Molly Hatchet (1978)
prep: Hot shower / Shea Butter Soap / Pantene
Strop: Star 3" Big Daddy Chestnut 50/150
    Brush: Custom Silvertip
    Uber: Tabac Original
Razor: 5/8 Boker 'King Cutter' honed and sold by SRD
Post: Ali Balyiki Alum - Humphrey's Lilac Alcohol Free Toner
    AS: Gillette Sensitive Skin Balm
EDT: English Leather splash with a spray of Avon Signature
Result:This was a nice wet shave tonite. I did such a great job last night that there really wasn't much to worry over, but dangit, I wanted to shave anyway! The brush in the picture is a WillN custom I just finished installing the knot in. The Cutter keeps improving, the tabac is great really wet, and the Humphrey's really leaves the face soft and smooth. A dab of GSS, a generous dose of 'smell good', and I get to rest and read for about an hour before bedtime. It almost seems a waste, but I'll take what I can get.

a excellent shave, I gave up 70% of the shave to the Kropp and it shaved very nicely since I gave it it's new look, then I pulled out the Feather and gave it the cleaning up task, super smooth, i'm writing this with one eye on the Rugby world cup first try goes to New Zealand scored by Isreal Dagg.

Another one pass shave. I may play around with this one pass shave business for a few days. I did notice there was a bit more stubble in the evening than my normal 2-3 pass shaves but we're talking about a difference of maybe a sixteenth of an inch and a single pass in the morning makes me more than presentable until around 8-9 PM at which point the stubble begins to show a bit but at that hour, who really cares, right?

Maxtom: 8/8 French Point in Mokume Gane
    Strop: Kanayama
    Brush: Chubby 2
    Uber: L'Occitane Cade
    Alum: Tade
    Toner: Thayers Lavender
    ASB: Sabon + Alt Innsbruck
    EdT: Mazzolari Mazzolari
Result: Superb! I started the shave thinking it would be a quick affair, despite the fact that I don't need to be in court until 10:00. But as I whipped up the Cade lather, I realized this was going to be a slow and luxurious shave today. The bowl filled with some incredibly moist rich lather as the Chubby worked its magic. When I applied it to my face, it was absolutely indulgent! The Maxtom glided over the face leaving nothing but clean, smooth skin in its wake. Two plus passes later, I was CBS and ready to pamper the skin. The alum and witch hazel both did their job on the face, but as the Sabon & Alt Innsbruck combination got rubbed in, the scents started to really fill the den. The piece de resistance today is a true power scent from Mazzolari.

My image today, reflects my own personal introspection as we get closer and closer to the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I was struck by the importance of the commitments we make in our lives. For me, the two most influential commitments have to have been the one I first made on June 28, 1989 when I first entered the United States Military Academy. The four years there shaped me immeasurably and took me around the world in good times and in those less fortunate. The second is that to my wife, who inspires me tremendously on a daily basis. Having her with me in this journey gives me the strength and confidence to accomplish anything. Together, these dual commitments to the Army and to my family truly make my wife richer and more rewarding than I could ever explain!
