    Jeff,
And to think that this stuff is (1) tallow based, and (2) cheap. What a deal

That is a real interesting hone. What is it? A CF?? I have never seen one with those spots before. Very interesting. Great shave btw

Thank you for the kind words and wishes Dunc...never give up a razor when in doubt my friend. Keep rocking with that stone. Honing skill will catch up in no time

The brush in the picture is a WillN custom I just finished installing the knot in. The Cutter keeps improving, the tabac is great really wet, and the Humphrey's really leaves the face soft and smooth. A dab of GSS, a generous dose of 'smell good', and I get to rest and read for about an hour before bedtime. It almost seems a waste, but I'll take what I can get.
    Mike,
Fabulous all around shave buddy. (1) fabulous brush (congrats), (2) awesome razor (Lynn puts a mean edge on anything steel), and (3) great finish

Nicre shave! I'm off for a daytrip to Eskilstuna today (roughly 110 km from where I live) and then some sailing with one of my oldest friends
    Mikael,
Lovely brush (can't wait to receive mine...hopefully next few days) and TI. Sorry to hear about the customer service though. As much as they know they make good products, the French have to learn that customers are the base of their business. I had a similar problem with MdC, but it was fixed. Enjoy your sailing...I am sure you're going to come back home with a razor, LOOOL!!!

The four years there shaped me immeasurably and took me around the world in good times and in those less fortunate. The second is that to my wife, who inspires me tremendously on a daily basis. Together, these dual commitments to the Army and to my family truly make my wife richer and more rewarding than I could ever explain!
    Bill,
Forget the shave buddy (which is fabulous). Your commitments are the true foundation of who you really are as a man. I appreciate those great qualities in you and I, for one, I am proud to have you as a friend and in my life. Thank you

Woooow José...That soap sounds amazing (if you take away the "medicinal" scent). Does he have other scents?

Excellent products. That Chubby 3 is a Monster of a brush. Harris products are great, but didn't know they made the "Pink" soap too (or is it the Rose)

Post Week of September 4 SOTD - Friday

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
Brush: 26mm Rudy Vey Custom w/ TGN Grade A Silvertip Badger (Kingwood handle)
Razor: 7/8" Heinrich Böker "Finest Silver Steel", Extra Hollow Ground, Round Point (w/ Faux Ivory Scales)
Honing regimen: Refreshed on Y/G Escher w/ slurry ending with water alone.
Strop: 0/0/0 (Neil Miller Linen / Imperial Horsehide leather / Imperial Cordovan leather)
Überlather: RazoRock XXX Shave Creme + Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol)
    Moisturizer: Trumper's Fragrance-free Moisturizer
After Shave Splash: Floïd Italian Blue AS
Cologne: Acqua Di Parma Colonia EdT
Results: What a terrific shave by this Böker. A quick refresher of the edge with the Escher and she was ready for action and what a performance. Over time, I have really come to grow fond and appreciate the extra hollow blades. But I feel that I must qualify my statement with the utmost care; not all extra hollows are created equal...but this Böker sure stands out. To derive the maximum effect from such category of grinds, care must be taken to apply literally no pressure and your angle must be (almost) dead-on right. When these two ingredients are in place throughout one's shave routine, you will be rewarded with one of the best shaves your face has ever experienced...GUARANTEED!!! As for the prep, it was equally magical. Rudy Vey's brush whipped up one überlicious lather out of the XXX and MWF mixture. The scent was "spiritually" divine and the consistency and performance; as good as they get. After 3 minutes of seduction, my whiskers were under its spell. The end result was an irritation free, CBS feel and a super happy "Me".

PS: Sorry about the recycled picture (but short on time and photos). I will catch up with my photos in "batch mode" by this weekend hopefully.

Have a SUPERB Friday and a finish (well...for most) to your week gentlemen.

    Friday 9/9/11

    Geneva Cutlery Pyramid 7N 5/8
    New Forest 2201
    Speick sc
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Speick a/s
    Speick a/s balm
    Acqua Classica Edc

Another great shave from one of my Geneva blades. This round point Pyramid 7N was the first of my Geneva razors and responds very well to my face as does most of my New York steel blades. I went with the Speick theme with the cream, after shave and balm to good effect. I am impressed with all of the Speick products that I have tried and would give them a thumbs up all around. I finished with the Acqua Classica cologne as the warm weather is waning and wanted to keep the mood going. And today will be better than yesterday.

Thanks Robert, yes it was a great shave

The hone is a bit of a mystery, the lady that sold it said her husband had always believed it to be a CF but the rock hounds here (and elsewhere) don't necessarily think it is because of those spots, suggestions have been a TOS or Idwall. I am inclined to think that its just another one of many variations of CF but definitive identification seems unlikely so I'm happy know it as my olive green hone and just appreciate that it puts a wicked edge on my razors, £5.50 well spent I'd say

This razor was obviously part of a 7 day set, it takes a little more effort to get as close a shave as with some of my others but none the less its a pleasure to use.
    Regards
    Nic
