Sorry for the recycled post but time sensitive today. And if I have to use an old one then what better then next to Kenny's beauty! I stand by my statement of RazoRock Italian Artisan limited is the best soap I have! Missed all of you over the last few days. I'm going to be gone for the next 2-3 weeks(Bill, Robert, You understand). Crappy shaves in my near future but sacrifices need to be made. Everyone be safe and I will be checking in when able but no pics until back.

Post Week of September 11 SOTD - Saturday

A Rose by any other name...

    Pre-Shave: Hot shower
    Brush: 23mm Shavemac Silvertip Badger
Razor: 13/16" Fontana #10, Full Hollow Ground, Spike Point
Honing Regimen: Naniwa Chosera 1k, 2k, 5k, 10k + Maruichi Nakayama Kiita/Asagi Hybrid JNat w/ Tomonagura slurry, serial dilutions ending with water alone
Strop: 0/0/0 (Neil Miller Linen / Imperial Horsehide leather / Imperial Cordovan leather)
Überlather: Cyril Salter "Wild Rose" Shave Creme + SRD "Bulgarian Rose" Shave Soap + Glycerin
Toner: Thayer's Witch Hazel (Rose, no alcohol)
Moisturizer: D.R. Harris After shave Milk
After Shave Splash: D.R. Harris "Pink" AS
    Cologne: Tabac EdT
Results: I've been pretty bad these past couple of weeks...RAD had gotten the better of me. This Fontana (along with 6 other amazing finds, 3 of which are with Max being rescaled/restored) was a very lucky find (I still can't believe that I landed her for a song ). The tang says 6/8", but when I measured her she's a tad more than 13/16" at the toe and 13/16" at the heel. I know these are exceptional razors and they've been on my radar screen for some time, but somehow I never found one in excellent or NOS condition...Until now !!! Goes to prove that patience is a virtue...you wait long enough, you will find what you're looking for. This beauty was also easy to hone. Setting the initial bevel was a breeze and finishing on the JNat, she took on an amazingly sharp and smooth edge in no time. Coupling her with SRD's Bulgarian Rose soap pushed this shave into the realm of the "unbelievable" .

Have a FANTASTIC Saturday gentlemen .

    Razor: J. Wostenholm EBRO
Brush: Jade and brass handled boar
    Cream: Arko Cool
AS: Thayers Lavender and Arko Cool AS cream
Result: Why do I love this razor? The blade is warped making it a bear to hone. It has thick tarnish, pitting and devil's spit throughout. The scales are to thick and not of the proper geometry to the blade. The pinning is second rate at best. Certainly no belle of the ball. But come shave time she turns into Cinderella, consistently offering some of the best shaves i've ever had. Though I don't see myself getting rid of my other razors, i could see where I might be able to settle down with just this one. At least for a little while anyway.
