Razor: Wade & Butcher 6/8 3/4 Hollow with Tan G10 Scales - Restored by Max

2 passed and I was perfectly smooth. Going to love this razor for a long time to come. Even better is that Max just finished the custom blade I ordered from him and I'll have it in time for Christmas.
I have a couple restores from Max and a couple customs. Incredible craftsmanship. I like the edge he puts on them also. Enjoy in good health!!

    Very cool razor.

    Prep: Hot Water Wash
    Razor: Gem Micromatic Open Comb
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Soap: Arko Shavestick
AS: Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera Gel
    Finish: Pinaud Lime Sec EdC

Gentlemen, this razor was the genesis of my entire wetshaving journey. Around mid 2006, after my obligatory post retirement, "I'll never shave again" period, I picked this up at an antique store for $4. Soon after a pretty exhaustive search I found blades. From there, it all just kind of took off and went where it will go. Without this razor however, I would have likely shaved with plastic crap and canned goo for a while and went back to sporting a full beard. These Micromatics take a lot of bad press, but I think most of that is a case of a bad carpenter always blaming his tools. When treated properly this is a honey of a shave, very aggressive, very similar to a straight razor shave.

Prep: Hot Shower / Proraso pre-post creme
    Brush: AOS Pure Badger
Soapreme: L'Occitane CADE / AOS SS / Glycerin Uberliciousness
Razor: Beau Brummel #18 11/16" Square point

Result: All trimmed up and ready to go to the annual Christmas party! Found a new barber and he does straight shaves. I haven't tried him yet but he shaved the back of my neck afteter the haircut and it was great. He said he would use one of my straights if I brought it in too! Looking forward to this, maybe over the holidays.
