    Monday

A wet, wet Monday today. It’s good to see (and hear) the rain. The change of colour from brown to green in the grass is almost immediate.

A nice shave with the De Pews. This is a razor to take your time with, from stopping to finishing. It ambles along; taking two passes to do what others do in one, but with a jaunty grace.

The highlight of the day was reading a couple of pages of ‘A House for Mr Biswas’, by V.S. Naipaul this morning. It’s an excellent book. Mr Biswas has recently taken to writing on his forehead with his finger. His young son, who he shares a tin hut with, has just found out about his father’s strange habit…

    Razor: De Pews
Pre-Shave : Proraso (almost out of this, I’ll track down the new formula soon)
    Pre-Shave Text : ‘A House for Mr Biswas’ by V. S. Naipaul
    Cream : O Melhor
After Shave: Truefitt and Hill Trafalgar

There's a LOT of REALLY cool photos here already this week, so I'm going to stop saying 'cool photo', I've got a shirt to iron....

    Prep: Hot Shower
    Razor: 1908 Gillette Old Style
    Blade: Personna
    Brush: VDH Boar
    Soap: TSD Coconut Lime Verbena
    AS: Skin Bracer
    Finish: Clubman Bay Rum

Right, wrong or indifferent, this was one of the early safety razors that lead to the widespread decline in the use of straight razors (not to mention U.S. presidents with facial hair.) If a razor is aiming to de-throne a straight razor and change the minds of generations of men about how they shave, then it had better bring a killer shave! This one certainly didn't disappoint this morning. Two passes, CBS.
