SOTD September 14th
Hot shower prep
Razor: Griffon XX ~!890
Soap: Arco (face lathered)
Mug: none
Brush: Barbershop boar
Aftershock:none
Splash: NOS Tabac ( Oriental Jade )
A very nice shave today in a few passes! Arco delivered and the stinkum stuff is still good after ~40 years!
The cut down blade from a GD still cuts well. I had to make the blade due to Griffon wanting no others to service their razors. (older photos) The blade is at least 4mm longer than other brands. The flip flop stropper is pictured also. It or a similar one became the basis for Valet and Wilkinson's stropping the blade in the razor's head products. A small razor handle attach stropper is shown on top.
The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!

Thanked: 88A Busy Friday Morning
I was all set to take a SOTD pic of my new (to me) "Shave Well" W&B for my first shave with it when I got an MS Exchange support call this morning. By the time I was finished, I had to grab a DE for a quick clean up before speeding into work. Such as life; it was still a pretty good shave.
Tonight the wife and I are headed over to a friend's place for a private concert he's hosting in his back yard. They frequently have musicians stay at their home on the way through Pittsburgh, and have built a backyard stage for these types of events. Should be good stuff, but I'd better get off this board and do my homework (it's lunch time, LOL).
Razor: Gillette Old Type
Blade: Red Pack Personna
Prep: Hot Water, Barbasol
Brush: Whipped Dog Black Badger
Soap: C.O Bigelow Shave Cream
A/S: witch hazel, Nivea for Men "Energy"
Result: DFS

Blade: J. Nowill & Sons (Sheffield) 5/8
Brush: Rooney 1/1 John Bull in Super Badger
Suds: QED Sandalwood
Skin: C&E Sandalwood ASB
Scent: Fresh Cannabis Santal EDP
A little history: JimmyHAD recently reminded me that "once upon a time" I'd purchased several lots of straight-razor blades on eBay. So, having since moved to Alaska, and now back, I decided to take a look at them. Well, among them I found 15 wedges (all British), from 4/8 through 7/8. This is one of 'em, after cleaning-up all the rust and a "pyramid honing" session.
Kids, don't try this at home! Using a traditional straight-razor blade without scales is NOT the same as shaving with a Kamisori. Any kind of "handle" -- even duct tape -- would've improved my level of confidence and control. No, no cuts; but this was a very careful, three-pass shave (plus an additional "feel-for-and-gently-touch-up" pass with the blade).
