Thanks, Jamie. I picked this up on eBay at the end of last year. I saw it with just minutes to go, and I was the only one to place a bid! It's another great Japanese Western that holds a fantastic edge. The scales are not the standard ones apparently for the 777, but I have no idea how it came to have them, bearing in mind it carries the Toyo logo on them.

Today we tested this beautiful Jeep Wrangler Sahara in order to learn more about the 2,8l CRD engine.
It works!
I ordered my Rubicon and will get the car in May 2013

Thanked: 88That's 62Nm more than my 4,8l V8 at 3000 RPM lower. Awesome. Granted, I have 130 more HP at high RPM, but you're going to have one nice rock climber when you receive it.

Thanked: 247Today I ventured into an antique shop and hastily purchased a razor that I thought was interesting for a few reasons...unfortunately, when I cleaned off the rust, dried soap/scum/whiskers, and other added bonuses, I realized that it was interesting for a whole new set of reasons. Most notably a creased blade at the toe and a nice warp in the edge as a result. So today's shave of the day features a unit-ized razor!
I will keep this brief, and say that I ground a much larger notch (and more pronounced spike) into the toe to remove the crease, then ground the rust pitting off of the edge, filed some jimping into the spine, polished the blade, and performed my most challenging hone jobs so far (I am new to honing, and never worked on a warped blade before). Again, for the sake of brevity, I will simply say, the honing progressed slowly so I took a break, returned a few hours later and things started REALLY falling into place.
In the end, I decided to test the edge with a no-strop shave straight off the 12K finisher.
I headed to the bathroom for an evening shave (I simply could not wait until tomorrow), and spun up a nice lather in my favorite mug with my el-cheapo badger brush using Bald Frog's Arabian Hooka soap. Then started shaving with my unit-ized Simmons Hardware Co. Excelsior #1448 razor. The result was outstanding!
After some cleaning, when I noticed the kink and warp:
After some improvement to the toe area:
After adding some jimping to the spine:
After a fan-flipping-tastic shave:
