I know what you mean about the light. Since I've started playing with cameras these past few months, I often find myself seeing things and thinking, "that light is really cool, I wonder how I'd capture that in a camera..."

As for the very helpful suggestion of yet another camera purchase, I think I'll pass for now. I think SWMBO might blow a gasket if I bought another camera!
OK, I don't want to like 'push' cameras or anything, but vintage Medium Format is really cheap. About 3 to four hundred? Much better capabilities than digital... Hope you are having fun, you seem to be :-)

    Thanks Jamie.

Life's good here, last visited Japan late June/early July, will be making another trip this month I guess. Will try to find Kanayama strops, need to locate where's the craftsman located now that Jim (Eastern Smooth) stopped working with him.

    Prep: Hot sjhower
    Brush: Chubby 3
Razor: Edv. Neiström no 2 + GEM Junior (for head)
Soap: Dr Harris Almond + Proraso reg cream
    Strops: Neil Miller
    Result: Uberclean

At first I tried to lather up the shaving soap in the pic (raktvål = shaving soap in Swedish), but it was the worst soap I ever tried and I didn't even bother to put it to my face (all thin and bubbly) and took out some other soaps. A pity, it's the only contemporary Swedish shaving soap I've seen this far. Razors doesn't get much better than this one, even though a modest 11/16 - a true shaver, if I ever saw one

    TUESDAY

    Hot shower prep
Razor: ~1890 Henckles "WOTAN" Replaceable blade razor..Straight on a stick!
    Blade: Kampfe Brothers hollow ground
    Soap: VDH
    Mug: Diner coffee mug
    Brush: Semogue boar bristle
    Aftershock: alum block
    Splash: TARR

A fine and very close shave today! Great products from past and present came together for me. With Abney Park playing softly in the background, all were enjoyed!

I was asked to hone a hollow ground replaceable blade for a forum member's razor so I chose the Wotan to be the test razor. First honing, yesterday, i got "Sharp!!!" and then back to the hones for "Smooth." No blood either time but the second shave left my face a lot lighter in coloration. It may be possible to get a blade sharper, but I do not want to try it. BBS in two. I cannot get that with a Feather in a DE. The VDH, as always, is my go to for shave testing. There are probably many better shave soaps out there but I know what I can do with VDH every time.

The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!

Shaving with facial hair is like a golfcourse. It's a challenge of rough and fairways. You are the skilled greenskeeper of your face?

It is the band you were thinking about. Steam Punk to the Max! A comfortable change of pace from Classic even though they are very similar in tonality. I like them but haven't bought any more of their CDs for the last few years.
