    Prep: Hot Shower
Razor: 6/8 Dubl Duck Goldedge, Square Point
    Cream: C.O. Bigelow
    Brush: AOS Fine Badger
A/S: Alum Block, Thayer's Rose Petal stuff, Floid Blue

Result: I was not expecting much as this razor was a little harsh last time I used it. I guess (I really am guessing, because I really don't know) some focused stropping mellowed the edge, because I got a smooth and comfortable shave. I had not been fond of this particular razor for a number of reasons, but now it's growing on me. It is certainly finding my favor; however, I may still give it to my son one day, if an when he develops some skill. (this square point can be mean).

I was in Houston last week on business and then was visiting my daughter over the weekend in PA. When I travel I use a multi-blade and soap. It just makes things easier for me and I don't worry about shaving tools. Tonight was my first str8 shave in about 10 days. I used a new Dirty Bird 1.5 Scuttle which arrived while I was away. I also used a razor Rene sent me while I was away.

    Hot Shower, Stephan's, warm oil
    Dirty Bird 1.5 Scuttle
    New Forest badger
    Castle Forbes lavender Shave Cream
Flaschner es Fia, 5/8 Full Hollow
    Razorock Aluminum
    Stephan's Lavender AS
    Vaseline for men

Rene did a fabulous job on the edge of this razor. I enjoyed three passes which left me nice and smooth. Passed the BBT easily.

    Good to be home.

    -SOTD-

Hot Shower Preparation with L'Occitane Soap
Thiers Issard 6/8 Full Hollow Razor
The trusty and reliable Semogue Boar Brush
The always helpful Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap
    Some Lucky Tiger Face Tonic

Well, as it turns out I was having issues with the TI. Bill had honed it up awhile back with another razor. The TI was giving me issues while the other razor was not. Tonight I corrected the angle and voila, a great shave. At first I thought it was a rolled edge from stropping but it did not seem to be the issue. I guess full hollows need a different angle to work effectively for me. Maybe not having used the razor for almost a month I sort of forgot how to use it. Who knows? Tonight it worked just fine. Fine indeed.

    Wednesday

Feeling a little less malaisey today after Bill’s stern words the other day; thanks Bill! Felt quite bouncy at work, ate little, worked less. The 4 kilos I’ve lost in 22 days has buoyed me somewhat. On return to my humble abode I walked with the dog in the forest; the air thick with sweet scents of spring, the carpet underfoot thick with snowdrops and wildflowers and pine needles. On return the sun was setting behind the mountain. Life is good.

The morning’s shave was nice; with the Wade and Butcher it always is. The scent of Mike’s Natural Pine and Cedarwood scent lingered all day behind Trafalgar and ‘The Beat’. Trafalgar and ‘The Beat’ go together like other things that are similar and go well together. Horses/carriages, love/marriage, bread/butter, apples/cheese (one bite of apple one bite of cheese, one bite of apple one bite of cheese, repeat) if you really DO need a simile or whatever.

Music to drive to work with was The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Jesus and Mary Chain. Audio on the way home was an interview with an anthropologist who sounded sexy and bouncy (unfortunately, even when she was speaking of mass murder) and listening to the stated woes of the Australian economy. It seems the Australian economy is either really really good (sort of like a teacher’s pet of economies) or headed for rack and ruin immediately. I do know we seem to be faring better than some, so best wishes to you if you live in the ‘some’. Any fool could cite the adage about all your eggs in one basket; our obsession with digging up Australia and shipping it offshore suggests such an adage. Diversity people! Diversity! When you plan your vegetable garden do you say “Oh, I’m going to grow corn”. Nothing else? you are asked. “No, just corn”…

You know, even I sometimes am amazed at the rapidity at which I go off topic…

Hey, would you believe my boss rang me today and said “Carl, I have an executive report I’d like you to look at, you’re really good at writing concisely and I’d like you to look at it and see if you can get it down to 3 pages (from 5).” Concisely!, I said in surprised dismay, leaning back in my swivel office chair, Most people think I’m rather verbose!. “No” she said “All the information you’ve provided so far has been quite to the point?”. You wouldn’t believe it would you? Concise I tell you!

Oh, the punch line is I re-wrote most of it and got it down to 5 pages… 

You may note I have dispensed with the rules regarding quotes and such for direct and indirect speech. This is a purposeful thing. The rules are tacky and I hate them...
