Thanked: 485Friday
Excellent workout at the gym at lunch today. My weight is down to 73.6, which is a reduction of 5.5 kilos in 59 days. My aim was to get to 73; losing 6.1 in eighty days. I reckon I’ve halved my winter flab. Quite happy with that.
Today’s shave saw the banishment of the beard like thing on my face. I’ve kept the moustache etc but the ‘only shaving the neck' thing and transforming into some sort of cool French looking bohemian dude is over, it wasn’t really going anywhere. The J A Hellberg frameback was the best razor to do this with after four days. The cutting in around the goatee is still a bit doubtful; I may engage the employ of the DE on the AM of the morrow.
The cream was abundant and fragrant, a great summer scent; freshly mown grass.
The aftershave scents are predictable I am sure, but it’s acceptable to be predictable in regards to the finer things, is it not? It is arguable that I smelt like an Edwardian English Gentleman’s club.
Morning coffee was hand ground Arabica, brewing method was Mocca Pot, vessel was French vintage coffee bowl, breakfast was porridge; whole oats; four dates; sugar; milk. Music for the drive to work was The Brian Jonestown Massacre, the album was ‘Strung Out In Heaven’ also Black Sabbath (Vol 4), music during the workout was the crappy local radio station that guy in the gym had on, after workout scent was Clubman, radio on the way home was an interview with a guy that wrote a book on that Bin Laden raid thing, beer at the moment is Oranjeboom Dutch beer (a nice drop and 5%)…

Great shave from this razor. The edge is wonderful. I really like the Cucumber Shave cream as well. it seems to be able to fill the entire bathroom with a slight aroma of a morning garden.
TGIF, it has been a long 2 weeks. My thoughts are with those who continue to suffer at the hands of Sandy and Mother Nature.

Sometimes the simplicity of a good DE shave is what you need. Today I reached for the NDC Gillette Superspeed. I hadn't used it in a while, but now I remember why I kept this one when I shifted over to straights. I loaded it up with my Gillette Spoiler NOS blade, and got to work. This combination makes for such an effortlessly smooth shave. After a little splash of Lucido, and some Piguet Bois Noir, I'm ready for work and later date night with my beautiful wife!
Gentlemen, I've not been able to comment much lately, but you have all been doing such a wonderful job of keeping this thread simply filled with excellent shaves! Thank you!
