Thanked: 485Wednesday
The scales informed me this morning that I was 73.6; a loss of 5.6 kilos in 64 days. The target of losing 6.1 in eighty days will be a breeze, however, the wife’s birthday is on the weekend which will result in feasting and drunken drunkenness, which may add a calorie or two and hence a gram or two. The workouts are getting intense, they are only short (40 minutes max) but hard. Anyway…
The shave was with the J A Hellberg. I’m actually starting to get used to this razor now, I was going to put it up for adoption, but it’s enamouring its self to me…
The cream was with Nomad which I rushed and made a mess of. Madame Scodioli’s Step Right Up anointed my face. ‘Anointing’ is a very apt word in this case, this ‘after shave’ (anointing balm of precious oils) is always a delight to administer, esp considering my terrible beard itch after removing the facial hair configuration two week’s ago for Movember. I haven't even made a dollar. I felt a little silly asking for money, it’d go along the lines of:
Me: “I’m doing that Movember thing and growing a Moustache…and also a soul patch and goatee thingy for mens’ cancer awareness; give me some money”
They: “But you had a moustache and soul patch and goatee thingy yesterday”
Me: “Yeah, right, I know, but I don’t NOW, I’m going to grow one”
They: “Oh, well, that’ll be really interesting, it’ll be, um, really fun to see what you look like” [looking uncomfortably sideways]
Me: "Yeah, won’t it, can you IMAGINE!!?” [jumping up and down and excitedly clapping hands together]
They: “Well, yeah, I can imagine, you, um, had one yesterday”
Me: “Yeah……it itches you know…..I’m doing this for YOU…” [walks away sadly]

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Shave prep: Evening shave, so just a splash of hot water
Brush: D.R. Harris
Preshave: Proraso
Soap: Taylor of Old Bond Street - Sandalwood
Scuttle: Simple soup bowl
Razor: Max Sprecher Custom 8/8 square point - 1/4 hollow, M3 Mokume gane
Strop: Kanayama 20 canvas strokes and 80+ strokes on the leather
After Shave Splash: Nivea aftershave Balm
Notes: Afraid to ruin Max’s edge from new, when honing this MSC , I was cautious but still confident that I could bring back a keen edge. I took it on a few laps on the Norton 4/8k, then finished it on a Naniwa SS12k and balsa+Cr02. I protected the back with tape and also used a black marker to see how my edge was doing. Already after the Naniwa, arm hair went like wiping off with a towel.
This first shave just went fabulous!
Comfortable and with a soft and BBS result.
Whoa!

Sometimes absence does make the heart grow fonder! Today I broke out two pieces of kit that have never really captured my heart. The C&S 88 soap has always been fine, but just didn't wow me and the Ern ATOR never really felt that comfortable on the skin. They sure worked a treat together, though! I wanted the 88 soap for a long time because I was drawn to that milled aluminum bowl. And I believed it was everything I'd ever imagined when it arrived. Perhaps the problem, though, was that I ordered the travel size to save a few bucks, which always seemed to small. I went at the soap today with my Rover and never noticed its small size. I was rewarded with a nice thick and creamy batch of suds. The ATOR after being refreshed on a balsa strop with CrOx was super smooth and sharp. I was near BBS in one pass, and after two felt incredible! The Lucido left a great menthol freshness and some vintage Chanel sealed the deal!
