Thanked: 485Wednesday
Nice shave with the little J A Hellberg this morning, this is a nice little razor, really. After that the day went south so to speak with a bit of a road rage incident on the way to work where I invited the offender out of his car. He apologised, ‘for whatever he had done wrong’ and I accepted that, shook his hand, and went on my way. I probably need to not take things so personally, maybe…
(Soap:Nomad)+(Razor:J A Hellberg)+(AfterShaveR Harris+(EDT:Whisky)=NiceShave
(isn't that hilarious, I typed a colon ( and a letter D for D R Harris and it got converted to a smiley!)
(and then it did again!!!!)(LOL)
(but into a different smiley!!!!)
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Thanked: 3226Pre - Alum block
Strop - 3 inch bridle leather with hard felt
Brush - Semogue 1350 boar
Razor - Vintage Boker Edelweiss
Scuttle - Robert Becker
Soap - Cella+Old Spice with 3 drops glycerin and 1 drop lanolin
Post - Alum block followed by Thayers witch hazel
One of my best shaves so far. The vintage Boker Edelweiss is one of those blades that always stands and delivers. You are reminded of that every time you use it after a long interval. Just smooth and gentle. The 1350 boar held enough for 3 passes and touch ups. It is also an absolute pleasure to use. With a start this good the rest of the day is going to have a hard time living up to it. Have a good one everybody.

What a way to roll into a holiday weekend! I went to the PO Box yesterday on the way home and found a little surprise waiting for me (well, truth be told, not much of a surprise because I was told it was on the way, but work with me...). Inside the box was a lovely little treat dressed in blue giraffe bone! As Bob Allman, the man who made this fine piece of steel said, the kid in me wanted to play with it right away. So, I checked the edge and it was popping hairs, but knowing how I like my own edges, I took it to the Oozuku Suita (su imasen) with a full nagura progression. By the end, it looked like a nice even edge and the hairs were running away before the blade got to them!
This morning I gave it a run, and it was flawless. I was left BBS in two with very minor clean up. And man what a shave it was. I whipped up some luxury with the Jabonman Haitian Vetiver, which filled the den with the most amazing pungent smell. And the lather is well enough known that I need not belabor how wonderful it was! The blade was nimble and efficient. It feels good in the hand and has a great soft grind. Overall, I declare this blade a keeper! The shave was followed by some Sulwhasoo aftershave and skin emulsion and the pièce de résistance was the application of some Lorenzo Villoresi Vetiver. I feel like I can take on the world now!
