Hey guys, it's good to be back. I last posted 12-12-12, the day of my oldest brother's death. That day I had taken pictures of all the "birth year razors" I was going to give to my brothers, sons, and in-laws. I just haven't been able to bring myself to post again since that time since the last picture I took was of my oldest brother's 1952 Gillette. The support and kind words from my SOTD friend have truly helped.

The Dovo was a St. Valentine's gift from my wife last year. I LOVE the fact the scales are 20,000 year old mammoth ivory, I've never been happy with it as a shaver. I've been practicing with the Norton the past few weekends and thought I would try working on the Dovo last night. Unfortunately, I've been on-call all weekend and was literally in the ER sewing up facial lacerations until 4:30 this morning. Got a couple of hours of sleep before breakfast with the family. Hot shower and quick shave -- WOW -- what a shave. It's like it's an all new razor. Went totally old school with the Arko and the Old Spice. I "smell like my dad," and couldn't be happier! I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful week.

Terrific shave today. My brother cut me off a chunk of his Vitos to try. It's awesome. I love almond scented soap and IMO this performed better than cella.

Prep: Hot shower + cold splash
    Soap: Cella
    Brush: Custom Badger SilverTip 24mm
Razor: Wade & Butcher 5/8 Round Point
Strop: Tony Miller 2,5" Horsehide Leather and Linen
    Shave: 1 pass WTG
    Astringent: Alum
    A/S: Floid (Italian)

Finally managed to properly hone the W&B that I got recently. Unfortunately this blade came in with a couple of nicks and I had to reset the bevel. This proved to be more challenging that expected but I finally managed to tame it! (although it still needs to go back to the 8k/12k for a few more strokes.)
It the meantime, Floid is rapidly becoming my most preferred after shave, beating even over TOBS Mr Taylor.
