Honed up a vintage puma 89 I recently acquired. The bevel seemed to be satisfactory, so I put it through a 4k-8k pyramid, followed by barber hone, Cr Ox on balsa, and strop and it took a great edge.

This is a razor that has a lot of mileage and belonged to a barber. I was initially disappointed with the amount of hone wear and the reduced width of the blade, but it sat amazingly flat on the stones and leather and the shave quality certainly makes it a keeper in my rotation. I think I will call this one Mellow Yellow.

Prep: Hot water and proraso green
    Cream: Proraso red
    Brush: Rooney
    Razor: Puma 89
    Aftershave: Dominica Bay Rum
    Moisturizer: Emu Oil

    12th February 2013

    Location: Dublin 3, Dublin, Ireland
Prep: Hot shower + cold splash
    Soap: Valobra Shaving Stick
Brush: Taylor of Old Bond Street Travel Badger Brush
Razor: Stainless Steel Dovo 5/8 Round Point Ebony
Strop: Tony Miller Travel Horsehide Leather and Linen
    Shave: 1 pass WTG
    Astringent: Alum

Exactly as yesterday... I'm not that happy with the Valobra stick. The standard "crema di sapone purissima" is definitely a different and better story...
