    Thursday evening
    5km run, Hot water prep
Filarmonica Sub Cero #14 razor - Barbershop badger brush - TOBS Lavender sc - cold water splash - Floid asb - hot towel - Arlington as

Stropped the Filly extensively this time and had the feeling that it brought back the edge quite a bit. The lather proved too thick on the second pass with the ATG. Simply added water and problem solved. Slide and glide. BBS in two with Stan Getz and the Gilberto's in the background. Hot shower afterwards and a small comforting talk with my oldest girl (8). Her best friend in school may be going to a special school soon, as she has intellectual giftedness. She cried a bit and I felt her emotional pain. My parents moved to another city when I was 10 and I lost all my friends in one event. I told her to let her tears run if she so felt like and to not be too upset as she's still living close by and thus a play-date or a sleep-over is still quickly arranged. Even though my daily worries are much bigger, somehow they seemed to pale to the worries she has. Funny how life teaches us lessons of understanding and puts things in perspective...

Today I thought I'd use Razor #1 "Genesis" The first razor I ever collected. With its deep pitts and terribly warped scales its not the sexiest blade I own, but I'd never part with it cause its a mean cutting machine. Truly a sentimental favorite.

    Friday

    Razor | De Pews | Cream | O Melhor | After Shave | D. R. Harris Bay Rum
    Hair Tonic
    | Pashana Bay Rum | Eau de Toilette | ‘Whisky’ by Evaflor

Quite a nice shave this morning with the De Pews. The O Melhor is a bit dried out; I’ve had it for almost a year. I don’t know what you guys with 50 thousand creams and soaps DO with it all. You must give it to family, friends and acquaintances; strangers in the street; to the needy, poor and downtrodden. You must donate it to support raffles to make money for a new roof for the town hall; you must turn it in to fertiliser and dish-washing liquid and dog shampoo, you must throw it surreptitiously into other people’s rubbish bins at night as you walk the dog, you must give it, wonderfully wrapped, as Christmas presents to the folk of the old folks’ home...

I have like 10 or something and it takes me a whole year to get through ONE tube…I guess that makes my SOTD posts boring; which is why I pad them out a bit with all the gumph I write. Now, tomorrow morning, I’ll open the door and there’ll be like a hundred million packages, like the bottles in that Police song ‘Message in a Bottle’, on my front door step, all filled with soaps and creams of ALL types, and little messages tied to each package saying ‘OK, Carl, Please. Here’s a whole BUNCH of soaps and creams to make your SOTD posts more interesting and NEGATE the need to pad them out with all that gumph. Now please. Just shut the F*%%! up!!!

    Prep L'Occitane Verbena Soap
    Razor Feather Artist Club DX
    Blade Feather Pro
Brush Simpsons Chubby 1 in Super
    Vito's Super Coconut
    Alum & Witch Hazel
    Una Brennan Neroli Moisturiser
    Penhaligon's Castile Edt

    Jamie.

This will be my first shave with the new Feather DX I was asked by another forum member to give my opinion on the way this razor shaves compared to the Feather AC - SS, well I've owned and shaved with both these razors and always with the same Feather Pro blade, now I will say there is a noticeable difference, mainly in the smoothness of the razors face the smooth wedge face of the DX felt better over the safer curved design of the SS, shave wise well I couldn't tell the difference both will deliver an equally smooth shave, but the DX does cost more than twice the price of the AC - SS, having said that the DX looks far better and the materials and quality are very much superior, for those reasons I would say I personally think it's worth the extra £100.

A little something special today before court:

He saw a lawyer killing a viper on a dunghill hard by his own stable; And the Devil smiled, for it put him in mind of Cain and his brother Abel.
