Thanked: 3226My favourite DE for a just plain getting her done scary close shave is a Muhle R41/Feather blade/ with an Ikon bulldog grip. All my DEs are fun to use but none are as brutally business like as the R41.

My favorite Safety Razor is the Gillette Adjustable. I had admired these but knew I could not justify paying $100+. Making the rounds of my favorite antique mall I found one in really good shape with original case for about the price of a pack of cigarettes.
There may be closer shavers, but the size, weight, and adjustability have provided me some great shaves. Plus it has a coolness factor of 9.

Bob, the instruction sheet came with the razor but that link you provided is probably going to get me in trouble. Just what I need, another razor to get hooked on

It would have to be the first one I owned; the one that will get passed on to my son, soon, Gillette 1956,,, a gift from a member. All my safety razors shave fine.

Well there are several to pick from that I enjoy, but my all time favorite would have to be a 58 Gillette red tip. Feather blade. Just works. Every time. No issues. Along with straights I use a rotation of DE's. The merkurs are great, Gillette adjustables ditto. BUT red tip never fails me.

it is neck & neck with the slim adjustable and super speed ... for some reason the knurled handle on the SS feels like it shaves better then my other SS's but I enjoy these 2 the most ..

Thanked: 603SOTD: September 12th, 2008
Blade: Gillette English Aristocrat #66 safety razor (Rhodium-plated) w/Israeli Personna
Brush: "John Bull" (Rooney Style 1 Size 1) in Super Badger shaving brush
Suds: Floris Santal shaving cream
Skin: Floris Santal ASB
Scent: Floris Santal EDT
I sold it, as well as a Gillette English Aristocrat #16, in the autumn of 2013, due to economic pressures... hated to do so. Got my money's-worth out of 'em... and then some.Last edited by JBHoren; 08-07-2014 at 06:10 AM.
