I enjoy my shavettes. I have two Feathers. IMO, the best in Shavettes. Now I enjoy my Straights. But I also enjoy my Gillette's, Gems, SE, DE and even the newly made safety razors. It's all fun. No reason why us straight razor uses/ straight razor forum members can't enjoy all types of razors.

@AIDROOS is a new member so maybe he doesn't know that this is a Straight Razor forum. But new members are welcome no matter what form of razor they use. And maybe we can teach them to use a Straight after a little time.

I only use mine when I'm in a hurry, except my single edge, that's ones just challenging to use and not get cut...

This thread is titled 'Shavette or disposable blade Straight Razor', as such Parker SRX heavy duty fits the bill along with Parker half blades. Being 'new' to the forum has nothing to do with the question asked by the OP. Why we like Shavette over SR, is the frequent strop and hone it requires, and moisture free storage. This was never the question of the OP, OP asked: why our tool for shaving is preferred by us, not SR v. Shavette.

I always prefer DE over Shavette over SR. First 2 out of the 3, require only cleaning, and new blades. When the Shavette can provide a clean shave, and remain a less headache causing option over SR, why waste my time?

Shavette was invented by Dovo in 1906, that is 116 years in service. Why would I not use the advanced, hygienic, and simple solution over a complicated and unnecessary ancient tool?

Only reason I had an SR, was because I was curious. Cuts we receive from a DE, and SE and limited to the blade, SR if not careful can act like a scalpel, leaving scars with reminder scar tissue formation requiring plastic/cosmetic surgery for correction of scars.

You totally miss the reason this site exists and why we use straights.

It may be a quaint and "dangerous" way to shave however it's also the classic way to shave and potentially give the best shave. To many it's a hobby and many like the skillset you need and the strops and hones and collectible angle.

Mr Gillette changed shaving forever when he came out with his DE and most never looked back. As far as shavettes go most around here would say they are way more dangerous than a straight because you essentially have a razor blade against your face and they can be very unforgiving.

At any rate we discuss all shaving modes around here and everyone is welcome even those using "gasp..." electrics.

Why this site exists is not for you to twist what the OP asked.

Ya think nine years ago when this thread was created and since in 17 pages folks have discussed shavettes quite a bit. What more do you want?

Your post was very plain. You showed hostility towards straights and feel shavettes are the bees knees for shaving.

If you research this topic in this forum you will find answers to your position.

I answered your comment vis a vis straights vs shavettes.

Plastic surgery? If you are cutting yourself that badly, maybe you should switch to electric shavers...JMHO

Just wanted to add this, the absolutely worst cut I have ever given myself was with a shavette, that scar lasted a couple of years. And that's a fact, not my opinion. One moment of not paying attention and I got bit good.

Well, it's one of those things you have to say. In all the years I've been a member here I can't think of maybe more than one or two posts even mentioning an electric and they were all negative.
