That's a great idea! I'm going to do it. Thanks.

Great question. Well my wife just goes along with any thing I do, and she loves that I shave more than once a week now. My 5 grown children would not expect anything less from me and my co-workers said that I am crazy and are tired of me talking about it.

Thank you Colonel for the info. Both times my razors were confiscated was during shake downs during shipment home or overseas. Almost sounds like it was illegal. Excellent report, thank you.

I can relate. It would have made my fathers day to know I had to go the hospital for stitches due a cut with a SR. Then he could go on and on saying "See? You don't know s#!t. What you don't know could fill a book! Keep it up there Barber Joe and maybe you'll take the whole head off next time". I can hear it now.

No, my friend, you are not a hipster. You are that to which hipsters aspire. And I mean that in a very good way.
I was telling someone about how I straight shave and make brushes etc, and he said that made sense what with all the hipsters doing it these days. I was sort of mortified until I gave it some thought. The above comment is what I arrived at as well as the fact that a hipster would lose interest in straight shaving pretty quickly unless he could do it where people could see the procedure.

They don't like how much money I spend for this. Ha, ha, yesterday I bought another brush they don't know about...

From friends I get the confused dog look. They lean their heads to the side a little and listen some more as I talk about it. Some think it's a little crazy. The best reaction I've had was from my wife today at the office. I was reading a letter from a Civil War soldier written to his wife. They were his last words to her, and he knew that they most likely would be. It's one of the more moving letters I've read.

Sarah my love for you is deathless, it seems to bind me with mighty cables that nothing but Omnipotence could break; and yet my love of Country comes over me like a strong wind and bears me irresistibly on with all these chains to the battle field.

When I finished reading the letter my wife said, "Now that man shaved with a straight razor!"

    She totally gets me.

I've met one person in the past few years I've been str8 shaving who uses a shavetee...the rest are like "I'd be afraid I'd slit my throat" ...to that I often respond "I give you enough credit to know when to stop before it gets to that point"...they don't know what to make of that comment...none of my friends or family are interested although my sis is supportive...my ex girlfriend liked the result but hated that it "takes so long" but then again she complained that my beard grew back so fast too...go figure huh
