Girlfriend likes the smoothness, although seems uninterested in the process involved in attaining it.

Friends and family think it's cool, a few friends have switched to DE shaving as a result of finding out there are other ways to shave than cartridge razors. Using scented soap for shaving with has led to quite a few comments throughout the day that i smell nice.

Hey MikeN, I do not have a kid but have read about other guys on the forum who give their youngsters a butter knife etc, lather them up and let them go. I think this would be one of the best things in life except for sharing his first shave with him. Gad I am clucky...
A good lather is half the shave.

They couldn't care less. I couldn't care less about that. It's just what I do.

Family fine with the straight razors. It was when I started wearing a fedora and grew a 1930's style mustache that they started worrying about my sanity. What can I say, I'm bringing the style back.

My wife reacts as expected after 30 years of marriage: She supports me and shows a genuine interest in any new hobby/endeavor that I engage in. My son who's 28 is indifferent for the moment (he has a full beard) and my co-workers that know are both curious while thinking I'm a little crazy for trying it.

Wifey has surely seen me shaving with straight but has never given any comment. I like it that way. I guess she's not interested. With what does she shave with (her legs etc) doesn't interest me either. Shaving with straight -for me- is to get best possible shave, but not to get reacts form people i live with. My shaving is not that special. Just shaving.

Same story here. Makes my wife crazy when I watch Downton Abbey with her, and want to talk about the character's hats........

I have six sons and not one uses a straight. I have a 7 day set shave ready waiting for the first one to claim it. one boy is still in the military so he can't have one in his possession. The others think it takes too long and they don't have the time. I'm thinking maybe someday they will smarten up.

I'm curious about why being in the military prohibits him from having one?
