I have always used a some pressure whilst stropping. That's probably why my wrist aches, especially on a heavier draw.
I'm sure I read somewhere that Rezdog said he strops with a light touch, wish I could find it again.
Like I said, I have always felt that my razors should be stropped into submission but, since cutting my thumb I've had to strop lightly and gingerly.
Actually, my sore thumb as been quite helpful. I have discovered that I don't have to strop hard to achieve good results and my wrist has stopped aching.
So there you go, the best way to improve your stropping technique is to give your thumb a good cut so anything but light pressure hurts and starts the bleeding again.

You never realize what you have until it's gone -- Toilet paper is a good example

Or strop correctly, heavy handed stropping is the reason for most sub par edges stropping is THE most important aspect of maintaining great edges, and you now know

The bad stropping and honing technique you see in videos on youtube by guys that "know what they're doing" is concerning. I always lol and move on. But people take over those habits.
There are obviously a few really good ones out there with good / correct technique, but most 'hype, sensation youtubers' have horrible technique. Huge wrist movement while stropping, flipping the razor over the edge while honing, *shivers*
Technique is everything and will make sure you can use the correct pressure, bad technique only messes things up and creates bad habits that set you up for failure.
Perfect practice makes perfect.

What is steel...compared to the hand that wields it.

well I guess stuff happens. Got out of the shower got my lather ready stropped my razor. You know what happened next? the the medicine cabinet left side door started to swing open for unknown reason I saw it just as I was getting ready to take my first stroke on my right side so I only saw it out of the corner of my eye.
It must have startled me because I reached for it with both hands as if trying to block something.
Here is the result. My left forearm Ouch!!!!!
