Thanked: 485Ha! Classic, How did you do that, Dad!?
Looks like your son's shown you up!
Everybody has already said it, but the whole tone of that other thread was created by your son's intelligent, mature conversation style. I think you should be a very proud father. I have two sons (and a daughter and a grandson). My oldest (21) made the switch to a straight a few months ago. I'm still trying to convince the younger one (14) to give it a go; but it's a little early yet.
Even though I've been shaving with a straight almost every day for a year now; watching someone else shave with a straight still gives me the shivers and makes me wince. I can imagine how nervous you were watching Parker.
Oh, at risk of overdoing it; I'd also like to say it's refreshing to see a father taking an interest in a son's activities. Too many father/son relationships break down too early. For me, my son wanting to be around me, to play basketball,, go camping, etc, is a real vote of confidence for me. I understand, I think, that Parker said in a post he is a Mormon. Being bold enough to state that is also a mark of strong character. My older son's first tattoo was a Bible verse (Praise the Lord, oh my soul and all that is within me, praise His Holy name). I felt that was bold and brave of him. Esp as he had it on his lower arm, and as you can imagine, it needed to be quite large writing to get all that in. While I don't hold with some of the Mormon beliefs, one thing I really admire of those who do is generally the whole closeness of family thing (my mother took me to a Mormon church for a few months when I was young).
Sorry to go all 'off topic', but for me, this site is more than just about shaving; it's a sort of 'mens' group' at times; certainly I've leaned hard on my fellow 'Shave Of The Dayians' and Co. in the past...
Best wishes.
Carl

So this is Dad again,
Carl thank you for the kind words. I have watched from afar(I get all of Posts and Replies emailed to me in real time) and have been impressed with all of the support that you have given him.
I am proud of him, I have always been a believer of the the saying, Teach them correct principles and let them govern themselves. Parker has done this all on his own. Until he does something to warrant a shorter leash I like to let him have the reigns to go and explore.
And he is quite good at showing up his father in the process. But that is not a bad thing either.
Anyway you for your kind words, and the religious ones as well. And a big thank you to the other members as well.
