Just scored this NOS wooden container and puck of Yardley shaving soap. Excited to finally give it a try!

Just paid for this crazy looking coti. I might post better pictures once it eventally gets here, meanwhile has anyone tried anything like this? I've read some mixed reviews of the "purple coticule", but I decided to go for it anyway... so my understanding is that this is still a BBW, only with higher abrasive content. I'm thinking it might make for an excellent mid-range hone and if I'm lucky, maybe even more. Thanks!

Looks very cool. We dont see this sort of thing very often. Unlocking it will provide hours of fun. Lap it first. then hone with just water. That will give you a good idea of how abrasive it is. Slurry will make for more aggresive/coarser honing. Lastly pressure plays its role as well. Good luck and enjoy the stone.
    engine46 and Srdjan like this.
Your only as good as your last hone job.

Jonathan is right, lap it first to make sure it is flat! Good luck & let us know how well it works out.

I really REALLY want to have this in the mail:

    http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...902335&alt=web

...but I'm asking the guy what grade of Mikawa nagura this is (i.e. mejiro, tenjyou, botan, doubt it's koma) and he's not answering. Twice till now.

Does anyone have any experience with this guy's mikawa nagura? He also sells tsushima, which I know and use.

Just received my Thater 4292/4 that completes my little set with 4292/3 and 4292/5. Love my Thater two bulb silver tips. New emblem design on the new one.

Very nice and thanks for posting the pics - you remembered!

I've heard lot's of great stuff about the Thater's, my Plisson HMW has rocked my world, opened a whole new world about how important a brush is to the shaving experience, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't indulge my BAD with the No #3, as I prefer a smaller brush - thanks!
