Yes sir. I salvaged an oak stair stringer that came out of the church I went to as a child. I was fortunate that the company I work for, did the renovations there. I'll get a nice size, solid piece of oak out of it.

I'll have to get on YouTube and learn how to install those tapered shafts into a wood handle.

Oh nice, that just made me realize that my old church gave away old solid wood pews about 15 years ago. No idea what they were, but old wood with great patterns. If I knew then what I know now... I'd probably be shipping alot of wood...

You should have seen me yesterday when I saw a huge Walnut being cut down...... but it just would have gone on to the huge pile of wood I have in the garage. The huge pile my wife keeps asking me if a really need. Haha.

The description didn't say how wide it is, but from the pic, I'd say it's right around 2 inches in width which is awesome.

You know what this means, right? You must now make it "shave ready", and do at least a single pass shave with it. Complete with a SOTD pic. Video would be a nice bonus, but optional .

Yes, I realize that, as a turner tool, the edge need not be that sharp. It isn't practical. But, for the first edge you put on it, why the heck not?! I'd certainly give it a go!

I had an idea for the handle, though I don't know if it would mesh with the material you already have picked out. A clear acrylic section that would show off the stamps!
