Thanked: 2284I'm not even sure I have WD 40 Shaun. Usually I use 3 in 1 and steel wool, but I can see why it would be better. The solvent in it would help loosen things up. What about Super Lube? Expensive synthetic stuff I have in the truck. I feel like it's a dry spray tho.

Thanked: 4826Just a little lubtication to help keep the steel wool from being too aggressive. Just about anything should work. I have used light mineral oil too. It all works.
Nice trip to Lee Valley Mike. I am glad I cannot just stop by all the time, but I can spend the whole day in there. It is a fun place. Is the nylon strap for clamping or cargo? When it comes to small stuff like boxes I love using tape for my clamps. If your joinery is tight and everything is straight and square it does not take a lot to hold a small box or odd shaped item together. I am curious what is in the wood cases. This lot showed up in the mail today. Two of the razors have some potential for restoration. The top one labeled G C Co Germany appears to be a low quality razor, but is in almost new shape. The second one is a W H Morley & Sons Clover Brand that looks like it will clean up nicely. The third one is a Frederick Reynolds that also looks like it will clean up nicely. The last one is a George Wostenholm & Son Pipe razor that has lots of hone wear.
This was one of those deals where it happened to pop up with what I thought was a ridiculously low BIN and I jumped on it minutes after it was listed. I'm very happy with the potential here.

Thanked: 4826Looks like a nice and large haul Brian. I think you must have quite a large to be worked on pile at this time. :-)

Thanked: 4206Nice haul of blades Mr Chick, and is that tartugo scale material there Pete? A good faux tortoise that stuff is..
Thanks for the tips on the clamping Shaun. Is indeed a strap clamp I bought for that box I'm building. Will try the tape on the joints as I have seen that used to prevent glue splotching as well.
In the wooden boxes are end mills. 1/8-1/2" in round and flat varieties.
They came from a tool shop, not Lee Valley, but I got them in the same trip for use on both the engraver, and for some milling on the lathe.
