Well I WAS excited when another part of my upgrade for my smoker landed via UPS just a bit ago, then I opened the package.
I'd ordered a gauge to mount in the door at about the same height as the sensor that the thermostat uses for the heating element so I had an idea of how warm it was inside. For years I'd hang a probe inside but I decided I wanted something permanent so I ordered this. It doesn't have to be super accurate as I'm not building the Space Shuttle here.
Anyway this is what I WAS going to install.
However it arrived with the probe shaft bent.
I heated some water in the microwave and sure as hell, it doesn't work. The base of the pointer hits on the inside of the dial.
Amazon is sending a replacement and I've got the damaged gauge ready to be picked up by the USPS tomorrow.
Damn I was really looking forward to installing that gauge today.
Oh Well, another day.Our house is as Neil left it- an Aladdins cave of 'stuff'.

Thanked: 2284This popped up on ebay, had only 2 photos both of the same view. Looked like it could possibly be ivory, so I put in a bid. Low and behold it's on it's way. Now the waiting game to see what the heck I actually got.

Bay rum oil. I'm having a crack at making my own and already have a spice concoction with witch hazel and rum. This is far cheaper than bay oil to have a crack.
It may be amazing, it may be amazing insect repellent. We shall find out

Thanked: 2284I wasn't to sure about it Richard. Still not. Looks like it could be ivory, but the sticker and lettering look..... off. I'm hoping that's just because it's an older brush. I have a great feeling it's ivory though.

Thanked: 2284Those are definitely ivroy Srdjan, I have those exact same scales. This seems to be a very common shape for the material throughout many different makers.

Yep, I could actually see the grain in the photos. I'm surprised this seller didn't know what the material is. Also, remember this one? Same shape...
