HERE is a thread about Fountain pens Kees.

When using a fountain pen you need a very light hand my friend. There is no need for pressure as the ink flows out easily, not like a rollerball pen which requires a heavy hand to keep it moving.
I am left handed, which makes it a bit more challenging. But to me that's part of the fun.
    Aloha!

Nice. Thanks for the info and links. I have a few classic fountain pens from the 40s and 50s that belonged to my Grandfather. I also have a few I bought in the 90s (Parker) when I decided I was going to hand write my letters instead of using a typewriter or the emerging computers. Unfortunately, I gave up. I really had to.

I have many talents as an educated gentleman. Most of us do. However, WRITING and PRINTING prowess is NOT one of them! My writing quality (pen to paper) looks like a 12 year old had attempted it. I have excellent vocabulary, but my writing legibility skill has always been horrific. The prose is clever and well written, but the quality of the print or script? Very poor. I really should have been a doctor. No one would have been able to read my prescriptions.

I have heard that they are no longer teaching cursive script in school. Just printing. With the computer, script handwriting is now extinct in our classrooms and within a few generations, it will be extinct in our society. A lost art form.

These were waiting on me, today after work!

Maggard Purple Brush handle with Synth brush (feels a little soft, but I'll give it a shot. May need to reset a bit deeper)

Edwin Jagger Aloe Vera Aftershave Lotion (I LOVE this stuff. Just wish it wasn't so damned expensive!)

    5 Sample bottles of aftershave:
Fine 'American Blend' (kinda has a hint of old time Barbershop)

Chiseled Face 'Trade Winds' (seems very light and airy. Can't pin down a spefic scent to it, yet)

Chiseled Face 'Sherlock' (this may sound wierd, but it smells like the armory us cadets stored our firearms in, when I went thru PTI (Police Training Inst) back in 1990. Don't know why!! Lol)

Chiseled Face 'Midnight Stag' (kinda has a 'used' leather smell. Not as leathery as Geo Trumpers Spanish Leather (which I LOVE, BTW). But kinda like a 4 yr old truck with leather interior)

Chiseled Face 'Ghost Town Barber' (reminds me of the showers in truck stops. NO, not like that!!! lol For those truckers out there, you know what I mean...the nicer truckstops (like Flyin' J or Pilot)...kinda has a fresh soap smell, mixed with typical older mens colonge (like Old Spice, Brute 33, etc) all mixed together.

Though not as fancy as fountain pens, I do prefer better equipment than what is provided by your typical "Bic" ballpoint pen. In school, I used a Pilot Precise V5. Because I work in a food production facility, where foreign objects are a concern, I use a "middle ground" compromise in the Pilot V2 (clickable, no cap to lose).

I think I gravitated towards the V5 because commonly available ballpoint pens required more pressure for better consistency, which would make my hand hurt!

The ink (gel?...) flows quite freely, enough to bleed through if you pause without lifting off the paper. With the V5, the needle-like tip will snap off with enough pressure, and bend with just a bit too much.

If you have a heavy hand when writing, try using the V5 as the pen version of a shavette. It is cheaper (to the best of my knowledge) than fountain pens & the likes, and will certainly teach you how much pressure is too much! Before and after each writing session, thoroughly inspect the point for straightness/misalignment! This is how you will grade yourself on "too much pressure".

I'm not a fountain pen user, but thought the V5 could be used as training wheels for those with a heavy hand .

    Yes, it's all from Maggards.

Steam the handle in a covered double pan, usually releases the glue.

Tried Sherlock this am. Has a strong peaty smell, once applied. I like it. Now to see how long it hangs on throughout the day.
