So after I grabbed this Thuri at a bargain late last night, I thought why not search the Bay for one of their razors. My timing was impeccable. Taylors Wedge.. first razor and cant wait!! it seems big and cumbersome in the pics but got it for $50 so nice entry level.. and will strat tradign up once i get skills up so now i need a strop ... and oil.. and soap.. anyone have any good starting kits? thanks!!

That's a great stone and learning to shave from 8k is a great way to begin. You can get a comfortable shave from that stone no problem.

I have posted time and time and time again that if you can't get a Nice CCC (Clean Close & Comfortable) Shave off of an 8k hone then you are pouring your funds down a rat hole when purchasing higher grit hones.

As my friend Glen likes to put it:

I responded that everyone I've encountered here on SRP are gentlemen of the finest order. No questions seem too dumb to ask or are asked to often. I hardly see rude responses. Everyone here is supremely polite, helpful, and generous with their time and knowledge. I have never participated in an online forum with membership quite the caliber of SRP.
