You say that we didn't discuss this with the members beforehand. Do you have any idea how much traffic this would have caused? How much people would have opposing views, and how much posts we would have to sift through before coming to a conclusion? There are 10K of you. And of course, many people would still disagree.

So one of the things we plan to do if and when it becomes applicable, is to toss ideas out among the mentors first to get some initial feedback and fine tune the idea, and then either implement it or discuss it in the general forums. No doubt people are going to complain about this too. But as we continue to grow, it becomes kind of impractical to let thousands of people have their say first.

Too many cooks spoil the broth. Just take a look at the "smooth running" USA house and senate.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I'm sorry folks, but I am so grateful for the work the mods and super mods do to keep order in this place and try to maintain the best straight razor forum on the planet along with keeping the most friendly forum environment I know going that words could never express my gratitude. I know we can't please everybody all the time, but this team really tries in a most responsible and friendly manner. I really believe that over all the great membership that we have here appreciates these people and all that they do as much as I do.

Looking forward to many more great Mentors in the near future.

    Thanks!!

    Lynn

No worries Lynn, I'll give you my postal address or my bank account number

In all seriousness, I think Lynn's point was that we (mods supers and admins) are all spending a significant amount of time, doing volunteer work to help make this site better and to grow the community in a good way. So it would be nice if people gave things a chance before starting to complain and talking about leaving because they disagree.

    sidkid,

Greenies = good/bad?? Greenies bad; greenies gone.
Mentors = good/bad?? Under development; wait and see.
Best scenario = give it a chance to ferment into the fine wine we all hope to enjoy.

If not, I'm sure your counsel will again be sought and taken, as mine has been on countless occasions, so that the new outcomes will attain the perfection we all seek.
