My first try with the Panama Boellis 1924 I absolutely hated it, felt the scent of the almond was overpowering.

After my further tries, maybe it's mellowed a bit, aged, but it is a fantastic soap, the almond blends nicely with other, almost an citrus hint, very subtle and is now one of my favorites soaps.

I always like the Savon a la Barbre Osma soap, with alum, very unique soap in it's own right, a few have mentioned difficulty lathering it, but it's never been a problem for me. The alum in it provides a very close, comfortable shave, and leaves the face feeling warm afterwards for quite some time.

This is also why I like the glycerin and tallow soaps, the MWF and the T&H products, both leave the face feeling warm and refreshed afterwards.

And of course MDC in all flavors, really is the nicest soap I've ever used.

The Penhaligon's are nice as well, although a tad overpriced IMO.

Proraso Red, the sandalwood, simply an awesome soap in all aspects, regardless of it's low cost, and I'd thrown in the Proraso Blue as well, white is OK, and then Green I find abhorrent, makes my eyes water...

DR Harris Windsor, one of my top favorites as well...so many nice soaps...

And finally, Col Conk's glycerin soaps, on par with the Williams in terms of cost, yet a fantastic soap IMO, always enjoy using it.

I primarily use tallow based soaps. I love the post shave from them. Lanolin from stirling soaps has also become very desirable.

Palmolive shave stick, dirt cheap. Do not under estimate this soap, I have had most of the top brands and the difference if at all is negligible imo.

I could not do without Mitchell's Wool Fat ... I love everything about it! It has been my #1 for a loooong time.

But, as said above, the Palmolive shave stick is simply amazing, and probably comes in as a strong #2. I remill a couple of sticks with a cheese grater into a Pyrex sugar bowl set aside for the purpose. When I first used it this way, I knew I was in love, and the honeymoon is still far from over!!

I've tried a lot of Artisan soaps, and most have left me decidedly unimpressed, but, hope springs eternal ..

MdC, Real shave co cream (yeah, for real, five bucks and it lathers as well as anything I've ever tried), la toja, MDC, cella

Cella and RSC are budget options, la toja would be if it was sold here in drug stores. MdC is a soap that lathers like a cream, and I think the ingredient list has potassium hydroxide like a cream does. Cella is budget, but my wife uses it, too - it has an incredibly short list of ingredients.

I like tabac, too, but it doesn't lather as easily on the face as any of the above do.

We're all "on budgets". Some budgets are bigger than others.

The soap I have which (IMHO) is _better_ than Tabac (which is quite good):

    . . . Truefitt & Hill "1805" Shaving Soap

NEW 1805 Luxury Shaving Soap Refill for Bowl (3.5oz) - Truefitt & Hill (Gentlemen's Grooming) Ltd

It's available from the usual mail-order sources.

The "refill" price won't break the bank, and the stuff is _really_ good. Beautiful rich, creamy lather.

I'm a soap whore. I have over 40, not including samples. AdP, 18 or so razor rocks, 6 mike's natural soaps, 4-5 Queen Charlotte, 6 mama bear, 4 jabonman, a kilo of cella, couple mystic waters, and some bigalo. Probably forgot a few.

For me , the one that consistently provides outstanding, bbs, irratation-free, weeper-free shaves is MNS.

My goto soap at the moment is tiki spice island, but my den will never be complete without some razorock in there. That is may favorite brand hands down. Tims Greek peach is amazing too but I will never get any more because it was a limited run and, well I don't know where to get more of his stuff. Mwf don't like my water and the best I've gotten falls short for me.

So… am I missing something with Cella? I have the red tub and it is just OK, smells a little weird to me.
I don’t see what you guys see in it, same for MWF.

MDC, AOS Sandlewood, and Body Shop Macaroot are my favorites.
