Another case of YMMV. I have Boellis Panama 1924 and find it very good. I got the brick not the fancy coffret. It lathers easily and has excellent glide. It has never torched my face either.

I do not tier soaps/creams, they either work or they don't for me. The 1924 works very well for me.

I'm with Bob on this one the Panama Boellis easily lathers thick and smooth, the only complaint I have is I,m not a fan of most Italian offerings because I,m not an almond scent fan, but as it goes their scent s very subtle so I used all he gave me. No fire but I don't have sensitive skin, I could shave with battery acid with no effect. Tc

I like Boellis too, great stuff, but I also understand what Obie experienced. I’m apparently sensitive to Hungarian lavender, but not French/English/Spanish. I get a tingle from CRSW Savon #1, and Mike’s Hungarian Lavender lights me up like a Bernz-O-Matic, and I like both scents, especially Savon 1.

    Cheers, Steve

Boellis performed well for me but similar to Obie's experience, some ingredient in it didn't agree with me and burned my skin.

I had made a comment about how i cant smell thing very well unless they are strong scents right after petercp4e gave his opinion on the King of Oud soap from Holly Kaw. He said it was very strong and would be giving it away at the next meet. After i had said i was going to have to check it out and had bought the samples. Then Pete sent me the King of Oud. The smell is wonderful and i hope to give it a try tonight.

Just wanted to thank Pete in public for being a great member and giving me his soap. What a fine guy. Thanks Pete!

Hope you enjoy the soap Jerry and it lives up to all the hype.
    Glad I could help.

    King Of Oud by HollyKaw.
The first thing to say from the performance of this soap is creamy, buttery. It must have a lot of the buttery ingredeiances in it. Not sure what the donkey milk did for it but sure has a buttery feel.
This gave lots of glide for the blade. The slickness is there too but its not a fast slickness like an oil or slime. The performance of the soap was very well. The skin feel after the shave was very smooth and moisturized feeling. To barrow a word from Bob, no pinchy feel to the skin. Relaxed and limber skin is what i felt. Now the scent is not a big thing for me but it reminded me of an expensive scent. Guessing that the word Oud is really the scent. I wouldnt say it was a strong scent. Stronger than a lot ive used for sure, but long lasting.
I shaved last night, and when i woke up this morning, the first thing i noticed with my head still on the pellow was the Oud scent. I had used some Vanillia Clubman after my shave last night but the Oud was still there. I can still smell it. Wondering how long it will last. Im in no way saying its a bad thing but very odd to still be able to smell the soap after many hours and after an aftershave was used.

I might have to look into more of this Oud line of products they sell. Keep in mind that scents are a bit harder for me to notice than for most folks. But this soap gets a 9 out of 10 in my book. Its not MDC, but its very close. But it has a different texture and feel on the skin. #3 in my book but could become #2 after some more trys.

    Jerry,

You hit the nail on the head my friend.
Yes, the Wholly Kaw has a different feel and properties than MDC, some of which I personally like better.

The lingering scent, however, is what turned me off. Maybe I should preface this by saying that I have never wore aftershave or cologne in my life. I once bought a bottle of Brut cologne while on a trip to Paris, France when I was in high school. I still have it to this day.
When I take a shower after I shave in the morning, usually all soap scents are gone. When I can still smell the soap in the evening, and well into the next day, I know it isn't for me. Way too strong with lingering properties that just turn me off. I even had to re-lather the brush and rinse it several times to get the lingering scent out of the bathroom.

Lesson learned for me. I will always order a sample from Wholly Kaw first to determine it's scent strength.

I will say that what empressed me the most was the after shave feel of my face. Ive never had a soap leave my skin so ...un-tight/loose/comfortable. Almost a relaxed feel. I had to look at the ingrediance again just to be sure there wasnt anything funny in it. Im mean smooth is one thing but ive always walked away from a shave with a little tight/firm skin feel. This was very odd to me. But it was very nice. And the buttery feel of the lather kind of thru me a bit. Lathered up nice without a lot of brush loading time but i couldnt see how something that felt so buttery would lather up suds like that. More creammy but still a n8ce lather.

Hoping to get my samples soon. Pete if you dont order them too soon ill send you my samples after i give then all a try or two.

And id never say i like something more than MDC! I might get kicked off the forum. but seriously MDC has been the top of my list sense i gave it a try. This is just different.
