Let us bow our heads and reflect on a grand member of the, "Hall of Fame", whether you're a lover or a hater, it has it's spot, and earned it's spot.
Of course I speak, in whispers of course, in a voice of reverence, for the great:
Mitchell's Wool Fat, or MWF
This great soap was used last night, and my skin is still thankful for it, and my brush runneth over....

Andrew, i haven't used in a while, but it is one of the soaps i keep. and it is the soap i use for breaking in my new brushes every time, that way i know what a brush needs as far as water and soap ratio. plus it really cleans a new brush up. as far as shaving it truly is one of my favorites behind Tabac, Castle Forbes and of course MDC Tc

I don't know why I don't use MWF more often, as I always get a terrific shave leaving my face feeling soft all day. I imagine I'm just more attracted to top performing scented soaps, although this is a reminder to pull out my MWF for use this week.

Thanked: 20Im fairly new to straight razor shaving and just getting the hang of face lathering. I found it a bit tough to work up a good lather with MWF. I'm reading lots of stellar reviews. Should I give it another try?

Thanked: 3226Yes, you have to try different things with some soaps to make them work so just experiment a bit. MWF is known for giving some people a hard time to produce a good lather myself included. Enter something like "MWF lathering" in the forum search box for some tips on lathering it.

Thanked: 250Experiment with dialing in MWF. Once you get it down you won't be disappointed with this soap. Some guys use a boar brush for it but I found my sweet spot with a badger and load the snot out of it. I also load my brush holding the puck upside down to make sure the brush is fully loaded. MWF is very kind to the skin.

I had a great member here send me a couple sample pucks of Mamabear soap. I have to say i was plesently surprised. It was slick and the after the shave feel of the skin was pleasent. A nice scent and they were gliserin soaps. Checked on the cost of these soaps and found they sell for a reasonnal price.
Checked the main list by Obie and see they are in the second tier. IMO, i agree, but very close to the top tier. Just wanted to share my thoughts of this soap and thank the sender for putting them in the box for me. And thanks to Obie for this grand list and his opinions on shave soaps. It's just Sharpening, right?
