First hard shave soap was Col Conk Amber with Conk mug & brush on my first SR shave with a factory sharp Dovo 6/8 Conk. Ouch!

Gillet Foamy or Palmolive I think for first shaves with injector razor, early sixties.

    No thanks.!!
But I don't remember seeing refills, at least not in our store shelf's.
They worked quite well, but not as good as what I have now.

Yes, yes, now I remember seeing it, although I never used it. Thanks, my friend.

Thanks, Bob. I remember that, too. What classics. Thank God they're not around anymore. OY!

November 2016 was when I first ordered my straight Dovo best full hollow, and thanks to Obie's post I purchased a puck of D.R. Harris Sandalwood. To this day that soap is my favorite, basically out performs all my other soaps. But I attribute that to have been working with it for so long.

Regretfully, my first shave with a straight razor was with a puck of the house brand soap sold by Classic Shaving. Absolutely dreadful soap. But since I was new to wet shaving I didn't really know any better. I soon got my hands on a tub of Catie's Bubbles Purple Grapefruit and my eyes were opened to the wonders of great soap and the fun to be had wet shaving.

My first soap was Old Spice with one of their mugs and brushes. The mug now has Old Bond Street Sandlewood.
