What I started with back in 74 was what my dad always used.

    Barbasol.

    Right up until last year.

    When I discovered this site.

Thank you all for helping me spend a good chunk of my retirement income on a bunch of great smelling concoctions that now fill my medicine cabinet, vanity, top of toilet tank and a part of the wifes linen closet.

With which the cost of just one of could have kept me in Barbasol the rest of my life.

    My buddies........my pals.

We was lower middle class. One soap fit all, bath, shave, frilly things sink laundry, Camay bath bar or Ivory. Fels Naptha shavings for laundry.

The gift for men came later, Old Spice arrived every Christmas or Birthday. But...; seldom used the soap and then for wash-up. Brush lathering took to long...

I shower shaved for 40 years after I left home; using whatever soap was available. Japan did a great job of barbershop shaving! Had to go off limits though to get a good one. Other nice things also found applying for temporary work there!!!
More time and products now. Nice...

I started off with my dad's 'De Vergulde Hand', but found canned gel easier in use, up until my girlfriend bought me The Body Shop's 'Maca Root' cream. A world of difference, compared to both previous products.

I've revisited 'De Verguldez Vergulde Hand' a few times, but ended up giving my stash to my dad; it's the only shaving soap he's used in a long, long time. I'm happy he enjoys it, as there is less of it for me to shave with.

    Best regards,

    Pieter

Edge gel was probably my first shaving product. Tabac was my first soap. Proraso green or TOBS Avacado was my first SC. :-)
